Sorobon Nudist resort in Bonaire will no long be nudist

The world wide recession has effected nudist resorts as well as textile hotels. Sorobon is the latest nudist resort that is converting over to being a textile hotel.
I've always heard good things about how it was run, so we are sad to hear it will no longer be nudist. It was one of the few nudist resorts in the Caribbean that did not gouge nudists by being ridiculously overpriced. We always recommended it.

"Sorobon Beach Resort has always been a naturist resort. As of December 15th 2010 this will no longer be the case. We will open our doors to the general public and nudism will no longer be allowed.

I think part of the reason they are going textile is I have found American and Canadian nudists are vacationing more and more ONLY in our 2 countries. They are tired of sending their money to foreign countries where none of it benefits the US or Canada. Since the US and Canada are the world's largest trading partners, anything benefiting one country helps the other.

I know we have so many guests that booked a week with us in the summer or fall (it's tropical storm and hurricane season in the Caribbean, Florida, and Mexico in the summer and fall so nudists never go to those places anyway as why vacation in the rain). And then they booked a week in the Caribbean or Mexico in the spring. Now they are staying with us year round and skipping those overpriced places.

Prior to the recession, people would brag about how much they overpaid to vacation in Mexico and the Caribbean at non nudist owned naked resorts. Not any more. Good value is the new luxury.

In October, we rarely just have weekends available as it prime vacation season. Vote Naked Campaign in Illinois

For those of you who don't know, Mary Clare and I are from Chicago, Illinois. We met our freshman year of college at University of Illinois, Champaign.

Yesterday, I posted how the Indiana Court of Appeals just refused to grant women's breasts the same protection under the law as men's breasts. Even though there is already precedent in New York.

Today I learned about this great you tube video, Vote naked Illinois. I say it in a Huffington Post story. Here it is:

"Illinois Votes Naked: Nude Campaign Spreads News About Changes To Absentee Voting Law (VIDEO)

...The Equality Illinois Education Project teamed up with Rock the Vote and Roosevelt University for an eye-catching campaign that aims to get out the vote. "Vote Naked Illinois" wants to make people aware of the fact that this year, they don't need pants to make a difference in state government.

This summer, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a law that required early voting in the "high traffic" areas near Illinois universities, Illinois Statehouse News reports. This means registered voters can submit absentee ballots as early as Sept. 23, and turn in their ballots at early voting locations between Oct. 11 and Oct. 28.

The move is seemingly an effort to attract more young voters...

One effective campaign tool? Nudity. The "Vote Naked Illinois" folks made this informative video about the changes to the state's early voting law: (Hat tip to Gapers Block for bringing this gem to our attention!)"

Indiana Court of Appeals rules women's breasts do not have equal protection- Shame on them!

The Indiana Court of Appeals just made a terrible decision. They ruled that a women's bare breasts do NOT have equal protection under the US Constitution. Of course this is just the opposite of how the NY Supreme court ruled in 1992 where a judge in NY said "One of the most important purposes to be served by the equal protection clause is to ensure that 'public sensibilities' grounded in prejudice and unexamined sterotypes do not become enshrined as part of the official policy of government."

Here's the story:

"A 16-year-old girl accused of exposing her breasts on an Indianapolis street can’t argue that the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gives her the freedom to do it.

The Indiana Court of Appeals ruled Thursday against the girl’s claim that Indiana’s nudity law violated the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause...

The girl’s attorney said Indiana’s nudity law was unfair because it covers the nipples of women, but not men.

The appeals court says the citizens of Indiana have spoken on the issue through their elected representatives.

The court saying the citizens of Indiana have spoken on this issue through their elected representatives is probably the WORST cop out excuse that justices can ever give.

Listen to these other cop out judicial excuses.

In 1857. in the Dred Scott case US Supreme Court ruled Blacks were not citizens and congress did not have the right to ban slavery. Bet the Indiana justices would agree here.

In 1896, Plessy v. Ferguson US Supreme Court upheld repressive Jim Crow laws in the south.

Now here are some famous brave decisions that went against a lot of public opinion.

1954 Brown V. Board of Education of Topeka overturned racial segregation in schools.

1925 Scopes Monkey trial. TN Supreme court overturned lower courts rulings that it was illegal to teach evolution.

It's a sad day in Indiana to find their justices so bigoted against women.

Remember, up until the 1930's, men could be arrested on beaches in the US for being shirtless. Even in the early 1960's men could be arrested in Central Park NY for being shirtless. Those were bad laws that have mostly just been ignored as many are still on the books. The judges in Indiana could have pushed forward women's rights in this case, instead, they treat women like 2nd class citizens.

Now Americans should have known this would be the decision as the here are some "good" Indiana laws still on the books that should be enforced just like the law against this women.

1. Bathing is prohibited during the winter.
2. Citizens are not allowed to attend a movie house or theater nor ride in a public streetcar within at least four hours after eating garlic.
3. Monkey's are forbidden to smoke cigarettes in South Bend.

It is good to know that the smart justices of Indiana have not overturned these laws. After all we don't want Indiana citizens needlessly wasting water in the winter by taking baths.

Truth in Advertising and Lifestyle Resorts

The Terra Cotta Inn is the most mainstream clothing optional resort and spa in the US. We are perfect for couples trying topless or nude sunbathing for the first time.

In this recession, many nudist resorts are struggling. Some have even converted over to being Lifestyles resorts which are places for people meeting up to swap partners for sex. Some nudist resorts have booked lifestyles weekends.

Here at Terra Cotta Inn, we are proud to not have to go down the road of being just a weekend getaway for people wanting to swap partners for sex. We are a nude sunbathing resort. We refer sex groups elsewhere.

There are NO SECRETS in the nudist industry if you own a nudist resort and talk to your guests. You will always know what other nude businesses are doing if they book lifestyles groups because they piss off nudists and us nudist owners will hear about it or will be sent information about lifestyles parties at other places.

A common theme for many so called "nudist resorts" especially in Mexico and the Caribbean is Lifestyles takeovers, where a sex group books some rooms at resort, but the resort still books other people during that time period without telling them there is a lifestyles group there.

My advice is ALWAYS ask before booking a nudist resort if there will be a lifestyles group there when you are vacationing at the place. People work very hard for their vacations, and nothing is worse than innocently booking a place and finding out it is not as advertised.

Or only book nudist resorts like ours that refuse to book Lifestyles groups.

So, ask first before booking so your vacation is not ruined.
