Vacationing in the nude is extremely romantic

In November 2009, MSNBC had a travel segment on TV called "5 reasons to bare it all on your next vacation." One of the reasons they gave to take a nude vacation is some nudist vacations are very affordable priced especially when compared to staying at textile hotels like Marriotts or Hiltons.

MSNBC recommended our resort, the Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa as the only nudist resort that is a great value in the western US. This is one of the many reasons why we are the most popular nudist resort out west.

However, one of the best reasons to vacation at a nudist resort wasn't listed. Vacationing at some nudist resorts like ours is also very romantic.

Now, most nudist resorts in the US cater to families and kids and are not romantic getaways at all. You go to them on Saturdays with your kids and hurry back home on Sundays. Everything revolves around the kids.

Romantic Valentine's getaways and nudist resorts

The Los Angeles Times reported "...TripAdvisor reports that in an online survey...16%said they would take a Valentine's Day trip and 77% said they would take a romantic trip this year.

I have said this before and I am repeating it again, I think the nudist resort industry is missing out on a major market segment by not marketing some nudist resorts as romantic getaways and romantic vacations. Now granted, you are not going to market nudist campgrounds and RV parks as romantic places since so many members of these places are going to them with their kids. And they are not as oriented to first timers as nudist resorts like ours are.

However, resorts like ours, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa in sunny Palm Springs, CA definitely qualify as romantic vacation spots since we cater to couples. And our guests have told us nothing is more romantic than topless or nude sunbathing at our resort knowing their kids are safe at home with the grandparents.

Nudist resorts should be inundated with requests for stories from reporters right now with Valentine's Day almost here. Instead, there is silence because nudist resorts are not thought of as being romantic for couples.

If 77% of people want a romantic vacation this year according to tripadvisor.com. they should be trying nudist resorts. This is a gigantic market that nudist resorts are missing out on.

I remember when we first opened 14 years ago, Lee Baxandall of the Naturist Society yelled at us saying how dare we say in some advertising targeted to first timers that our resort was perfect for romantic vacations. Lee insisted that naturism had nothing to do with romance. Being the new naturist resort owners on the block, we dropped the romantic advertising deferring to his opinions.

Maybe it is time to bring back romance in nudism in our marketing to first timers.
