Beware of phony hotel and travel deals

All the time I see hotel "sales" that once you look closer, really aren't sales at all. They are just trying to con people into thinking they are discounting their rooms.

I just saw a big textile hotel in the Palm Springs area advertise a 45% off room sale for the summer. Their rooms are advertised midweek at $149/night. This "sale" has been picked up on many travel sites like Los Angeles Times as a "real" deal for budget travelers.

Now when you read the fine print, you'd also see that you'd have to pay a $25 resort fee and parking at this resort.

For the room rate to be 45% off, that means the current rate would be $270/night. I know this hotel NEVER sells for that amount. I checked travelocity and expedia. How much is a room currently at that hotel? $149/night plus $25 resort fee plus parking. Big deal, where's the discount.

People have to watch out for these phony "deals." Hotels all over the world are creating phony come ons so they can submit them to the gullible media as room sales. Let the buyer beware.

Local TV and the newspaper, the Desert Sun is predicting a high of
78F and sunny today in Palm Springs. Stupid weather.com predicts a high of only only 72F.

Terra Cotta Inn annual room sales event starts on December 1st

Our annual winter nude sunbathing special start at Terra Cotta Inn on Monday December 1st.

How can we make the Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa more popular in the winter? By having our annual stay 1 night, the 2nd is half priced special room sale on Monday through Thursday nights in December and January (excluding the holidays). And for an even better rate, we discount our weekly winter rates by an additional $100 per week starting at $859/couple/week.

We are very popular in the winter as we are now the only hotel in Palm Springs that has outdoor heaters poolside to keep our guests nice and toasty warm (and nude) once the sun has gone down. (The Ritz Carlton was the only other hotel in town that cared enough about their guets to have poolside heaters. They are currently undergoing a $500 million renovation. When they re-open we will have to see if they keep their poolside heaters).

We also upgraded to a salt water pool and jacuzzi which is wonderful on your skin. We keep our pool heated to 86F in the winter. It can be used 24 hours a day.

With a salt water pool, you can be in the water for hours and don't get all that itchiness like you do from chlorine pools. Just this spring, the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas put out a press release bragging that their premier pool is now a salt water pool, and that they are the only hotel on the Las Vegas strip to care enough about their guests to go salt water. We are probably the ONLY nudist resort in the world that has invested in a salt water system pool and jacuzzi for our guests happiness. We converted to a salt water pool 2 1/2 years ago as soon as our county let us.

Right now we have rooms available in the months of December and January, but we do book up fast. Our regular rooms start at $149/couple/midweek and $169 on weekends. Our weekly rates are discounted to $859/couple/week. We include complementary breakfast and snacks, early check in (10am) and late check out (5pm) at no extra charge.
