Happy 1234567890 day today all you Unix fans

For all you romantic computer geeks out there, I don't have to tell you that today is a big day. The Red Bull and Mountain Dew cans will be popping at about 3:30pm today PST. It's happy 1234567890 day today.

For non geeks (and I am one), here is what I am writing about:

"Unix time passed 1,000,000,000 seconds in 2001-09-09T01:46:40Z. It was celebrated in Copenhagen, Denmark at a party held by DKUUG (at 03:46:40 local time).Unix time, or POSIX time, is a system for describing points in time, defined as the number of seconds elapsed since midnight Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) of January 1, 1970, not counting leap seconds. It is widely used not only on Unix-like operating systems but also in many other computing systems. It is neither a linear representation of time nor a true representation of UTC (though it is frequently mistaken for both) as the times it represents are UTC but it has no way of representing UTC leap seconds."

Mary Clare is so excited as you can see in the photo, she is calling all her friends letting them know about Happy 1234567890 day today.

And you thought that today was all about celebrating the beginning of a very romantic weekend, Valentine's Day.

Because of being only about 450 miles from Silicon Valley, we have a lot of computer couples from around the world stay with us. They go to Silicon Valley for business and then take a vacation with us before or after their business trips.

Thanks for bringing 1234567890 Day to my attention. It's a one time only event. (Incidentally, March 14 is Pi Day - 3.14). Yeah, I'm a nudist and a geek.
