British women topless sunbathe on vacations, rarely in England

In a recent British survey, 54% of English women said they would try topless sunbathing while on vacation abroad. But not in England.

We've noticed this same phenomenon too. Most of our guests consider themselves nude vacationers, not nudists. This means they love to vacation in the nude at our resort, but would never think of going to a nude beach or go nude at home in front of their children or friends.

People like to try different things on vacation. They're more adventurous. One of the things they're trying more is topless and nude sunbathing. That's one of the reasons why we are one of the most popular of ALL resorts in Palm Springs with one of the highest occupancy rates. We also average about an 80% repeat guest rate with guests from around the world which is one of the highest repeat rates in the travel industry.

Here's the story:

"No bikinis please, we're British: How 80 per cent of women will wear a two-piece abroad, but NEVER in the UK

On foreign shores they are happy to slip into skimpy bikinis - or even go topless.
But when holidaying at home, it seems that British women like to stay relatively covered up.

In a survey, 54 per cent said they would go topless abroad but none was prepared to do the same in the UK.

Similarly, an overwhelming 91 per cent said they wear a bikini overseas, but 80 per cent would never been seen in one on a British beach...

The risk of embarrassment if spotted by an acquaintance is the main reason for modesty, being cited by 51 per cent. More children playing on British beaches was the reason given by 42 per cent...

British Retailer criticized for selling padded bikinis to 7 year olds

Talk about needing to protect kids. A British retailer was selling 2 piece padded bikini style bathing suits to 7 year old kids. Looks like the fashion industry wants to really destroy the self image of little girls at a young age.

Luckily some members of the British government and others spoke out against this type of child abuse so they were forced to pull the product.

Here's the story:

"U.K. retailer withdraws padded bikini bras for kids

LONDON — A major British clothing retailer withdrew a children's bathing suit from sale Wednesday after a front-page tabloid story criticized the store for selling padded bras on bikinis aimed at 7-year-olds.

The bikinis also angered children's advocates and top candidates in Britain's upcoming national election, who say it was yet another product that sexualizes children and encourages them to grow up too fast...

Primark, a popular discount chain, is not the first retailer to draw criticism for offering padded bras for kids younger than 10. But the outcry of protest is prompting a growing number of companies to pledge support for Mumsnet's "Let Girls Be Girls" campaign.

The popular online forum said such clothing indoctrinates the idea that sexiness is the most important quality for girls and "encourages a culture in which children are viewed as sexually available."...

The retailer acted within hours of a front-page article in The Sun denouncing the product as a "paedo (pedophile) bikini." Politicians swiftly joined the clamor...

There has long been a global concern that products and images may encourage the sexualization of children or direct sexual abuse at them. Barbie dolls have often been criticized for being unrealistically curvaceous. Teenage Disney star Miley Cyrus' bareback picture for Vanity Fair magazine was slammed for being too sexualized, as was 15-year-old Brooke Shields' ad for Calvin Klein jeans in which she said: "You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing."

The American Psychological Association, in a 2007 report on the sexualization of girls, raised concerns about other ad campaigns, such as Skechers' "naughty and nice" ad in 2004 featuring Christina Aguilera dressed as a pigtailed, lollipop-licking schoolgirl. The association also fretted about thongs for 7- to 10-year-olds with slogans such as "wink wink."...

Researchers such as Penny Nicholls of The Children's Society, a British charity, say their studies show that commercial pressures toward premature sexualization and unprincipled advertising damage children's well-being...

"By over-emphasizing their sexuality through fashion, it may make it harder for girls to value themselves for other aspects of their identity," the report by psychologist Linda Papadopoulos said.

Americans and Brits have a strange sense of "protecting" our kids. The retailer had said that the padding protected the "modesty" of young girls. Whereas, most adults with common sense realized they wanted to sexualize young girls at a young age into the fashion industry.

Let kids be kids, they will have plenty of time to grow up. And if you go to Europe especially to France, Spain, and Germany you will realize that most kids enjoy wearing one special kind of bathing suit. It's called a birthday suit.
It's always in style.

And that's a major fear of the fashion industry as they can't sell bathing suits to people who like wearing their birthday suit.

One of the reasons why topless bikinis are popular in Europe

A transplanted New Yorker writes about her experiences at a nude beach in Europe where she lives and why she prefers topless sunbathing.

"... ‘’La gente esta en pelotas,’’ were the first words out of my boyfriend’s mouth when he realized que estamos en una playa nudista (we were at a nude beach).

Neither of us cared but a warning would have been nice. I have seen and visited nude beaches before. I am not far from being nude myself when I go to the beach enjoying the European custom of going topless...

In the end it was like any other day at the beach... i also came to a few conclusions:

1. I prefer my man keep his package under wraps and only bare his paler bum to me.

2. Sand near my baby-making parts sounds rough

3. It is a pity to go stark naked when there so many fabulous options for beachwear."

She made 2 observations. One, she was taken to a nude beach and didn't know in advance.

We have men from time to time call saying they want to surprise their wife/girlfriend by booking our resort. Bad move. Women NEVER want to be surprised by going to a nudist resort or nude beach. They want to know and to voice their own opinion to their boyfriend/spouse.

The other comment she made is "so many fabulous options for beachwear." Younger European women are just as susceptible to the clothing industries advertising as American women are.

We have many European guests stay with us and they say a lot of younger women in Europe these days will only go topless sunbathing not nude sunbathing as they want to make a "fashion statement" with their bottoms.

They don't wear bottoms due to modesty. They may wearing thong bikinis that cover as much as dental floss would at the beach, yet that small strip of fabric costing maybe $90 is a fashion statement for them.

Once the women mature into their 30's, then they start going nude sunbathing.

Women are terrified of bathing suits

Ask most women, in the summer they have two fears. The first fear is shopping for a bathing suit trying to find one that fits well. Next, they are afraid of wearing a bathing suit or bikini and having something pop out.

This week, poor Britney Spears was down in Miami vacationing with her kids. She was carrying one of her kids and part of her crotch popped out of her bikini bottom.

Now Britney has said she is comfortable being nude at home and above is a picture from a photo shoot she did when she was pregnant. But, I would bet she did not want the paparazzi shooting the pic of her bikini bottom slip which she wouldn't have had to worry about if she was at a nudist resort.

One of the biggest thrills first time topless or nude sunbathing women experience at clothing optional resorts is since they are sunbathing topless or nude, they don't have to worry about how they look in a bathing suits or bikinis as they are wearing their birthday suits. And birthday suits always fit properly.

We have celebrities stay with us from time to time and they all love it that they don't have to worry about paparazzi at our resort. Also they never have to worry about how they look in bathing suits. So Britney, next time you want to getaway and relax and not have to worry about wearing a bikini, we are a perfect place for you.

So if you want want your best vacation ever and not have to worry how you look in a bathing suit or bikini, give us a call at 800-786-6938.

Topless sunbathing in Las Vegas

We are in Las Vegas this week for a short vacation. A number of the hotels allow topless sunbathing which is also called European sunbathing in Las Vegas.. We have been to Caesar's and didn't like it - they were overwhelmed with single men

Mandalay Bay was much better, although it still had a lot of single men.

Last night, we went to the Bob Dylan concert at the Hard Rock Hotel. What I was so surprised to see was young women playing at the slot machines in bikinis in the casino. And not just regular old sting bikini bikinis, but many of them wearing thong bikinis.

We went to the pool which was packed. I would bet 25% of the young women in their early 20's had on thong bikinis.

There is a major market that nudism has not been able to market too, younger women.

At my hotel, The Terra Cotta Inn, we have guests from their 20's to 70's. However there is a large market of young people who appear comfortable enough to be in thong bikinis playing at slot machines that other nudist venues seem to be missing.

If only nudism had more marketing muscle.

And if you have always wanted to try topless or nude sunbathing, give me us a call at 800-786-6938. Visit our site at http://sunnyfun.com
