Cyber Monday Discount sales Event at Terra Cotta Inn, Palm Springs

97% of Taxpayers say It was a big waste of money for state to fight San Onofre nude beach

One truism about politics is taxpayers usually have much more common sense then appointed government workers who normally just feed off of the taxpayers backs.

Last year a California parks department director got a bee in her bonnet because San Onofre nude beach was very popular (it had been used as a nude beach for over 30 years) and she wanted it to be shut down. She said thee was high crime there. It was determined that there were 150 documented complaints in a 10 year period or one every 24 days. Plus, the crimes were mainly in the parking lot and not by nudists. Too bad they didn't compare the crime statistics to textile beaches. I bet textile beaches have more complaints filed.

The Orange County register newspaper on 5/30/08 had a poll:

However, the California state parks department went ahead and wasted $42,000 of taxpayers money getting the San Onofre nude beach shut down. they completely ignored the wishes and desires of the citizens as seen in that poll.

So the Orange Country Register this Nov 25th, 2009 conducted another poll asking readers was it worth wasting (oops they said spending) $42,000 on this fight to shut down the beach. Do you know what? Taxpayers again show common sense. 97% said NO!

First police were arresting teenagers for sexting, now police in Wisconsin did a Facebook sting to find underage drinking.

Here's the story:

We know Facebook has helped police solve all sorts of crimes, from burglary to vandalism.

But did you know it’s also being used to fight a far more pernicious crime? No, not child sex abuse.

Underage drinking.

Apparently, a college student in Wisconsin accepted a Facebook friend request from a cute girl he didn’t know. Shortly thereafter, he got ticketed for underage drinking on the basis of a picture he’d posted of himself holding a beer–in his own home, no less...

But for Pete’s sake–there has got to be something else these cops could be doing with their time."

This was published in the Maryland Daily record which is a legal oriented paper in Maryland. So I will have to assume the story was checked out instead of this being an urban myth.

I agree with the story, It sure seems like there could be some real crimes police could be investigating.

Now I do not condone underage drinking or drinking and driving. Years ago we were hit head on by a drunk driver who suddenly drifted into oncoming traffic, meaning us. That changed our lives forever by giving us some permanent medical problems.

However, I have to agree with the article, sure seems that there should be more important crimes for the police to be fighting.

Sadly, America is not quite the free society that everyone thinks it is and has its priorities wrong.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Our guests did. Mary Clare made a
fantastic Thanksgiving feast for everyone.

We were a high of 82F yesterday and sunny. Of course weather.com did their usual
wrong prediction saying we would only be 74F. They probably scare away more
people from our resort than the economy does.

We hope the Good Scale Fairy stopped at your house last night and turned the
scale back 5 pounds so no one was shocked this morning. Sadly she skipped us.
LOL

We only have a few rooms left this weekend. You can stay here Friday & Saturday or just Saturday.

Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance is performing this Fri, Sat and Sun Nov
