Naturists and nudists all know that The Terra Cotta Inn is the nude sunbathing leader in Palm Springs, California and one of the most popular resorts in the whole town. For instance this July 24th, 2011 the Los Angeles Times newspaper gave us a Readers Choice Award for being the most popular of ALL small resorts in ALL Southern California, nudist or non nudist alike. We have been open over 17 years and we have always been the go to nude sunbathing resort in Palm Springs since the very first day we opened for lots of reasons.

We made Palm Springs famous as a nudist vacation destination and we are still the major reason why nudists come to our beautiful town. For instance this October 2011, AOL Travel, UK picked us as one of the 10 BEST nude sunbathing resorts in the world and the only one in Palm Springs that was recommended. And earlier in the year The Australian Newspaper, Australia's National newspaper also picked Terra Cotta Inn as one of the 10 BEST nude sunbathing resorts in the world. Again, the only one in Palm Springs that was recommended. Of course in other years the USA Today, Huffington Post, Chicago Tribune, New York Times and way more have picked Terra Cotta Inn as one of the 10 best in the US or world. We work hard to be the nudist leaders in town and the press knows it.

The Terra Cotta Inn does not sit back and relax with all of our press write ups. We are constantly improving our resort and guest experiences.

There are many reasons why we have been the nudist resort leader of Palm Springs. We were the 1st of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to convert our pool and Jacuzzi to state of the art salt water systems so we don't have to use all the harsh chemicals like typical pools.

We were the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to install room side heaters for guests to stay nice and warm and nude on winter nights.

We were the first of ALL Palm Springs hotels to install high pressure poolside cooling systems and constantly upgrade it through out the years. Even now most places don't have them as they are very expensive to operate. But, then our guests comfort is more important to us. For instance we went through a costly upgrade of the system last year and it has been wonderful for our guests all summer long which is one of the major reasons why we're the most popular place to stay at in town inthe summer if you want to be comfortable outside.

We were the first of ALL hotels to propose to the city of Palm Springs that they start a recycling program for small resorts in town. And they accepted that idea.

We were the first nudist resort in the US to have top of the line king sized beds as standard in rooms. Guests ALWAYS tell us that they sleep better here than at any other hotel anywhere else that they have been to.

We have always been the best value nudist resort in rthe US and one of the best values of all hotels in Palm Springs. We've been recognized by both trip advisor and MSNBC for being such a great value. And just this October, AOL Travel picked us as the best value nudist resort in the world. And we still do not have hidden resort or grounds fees. So before booking anywhere else, always ask that question. And 2012 is the 5th year in a row, TCI has not raised room rates.

We were one of the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to offer free WIFI and we were the resort that convinced the city of Palm Springs to make our local cable provider to charge hotels only a flat monthly wifi fee instead of trying to extract daily usage fees from Palm Springs guests. ALL guests in Palm Springs hotels benefit because of our hard work, not just nudists.

I am a past President of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce, so I have used our influence for the benefit of all visitors to our beautiful city.

Here is a photo of one of our remodeled kitchenette sized rooms. There is beautiful travertine tiles (we spent extra for the safety grade non slip commerical tiles). All of our kitchenette sized rooms have super comfortable leather chairs of sofas too. These rooms are very spacious at 500 square ft. It is easy to see why guests will stay for 1 night up to 3 months in these comfortable, large rooms. Our room walls are also a very cool design painted by a 2 time Grammy award winning artist.

Nudists all know that The Terra Cotta Inn is the nude sunbathing leader of Palm Springs, California and one of the most popular resorts in the whole town.. Terra Cotta Inn has been open almost 17 years and we have always been the go to nude sunbathing resort of Palm Springs since the very first day we opened.

We made Palm Springs famous as a nudist vacation destination and we are still the major reason why nudists come to our beautiful town.

We opened the doors for mainstream advertising and public relations with the Palm Springs tourism department, Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, and many more publications. When we first opened, Lee Baxandall, the founder of The Naturist Society, asked us to change our toll free number and stop saying it was "fun" to vacation in the nude. He told us naturism was only about body acceptance and freedom and had nothing to do with fun. Within a few years though, we changed his mind and all other nudist resorts attitudes and nudist resorts all started marketing themselves as being fun places to visit like us.>BR>
We were the 1st of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to convert our pool and Jacuzzi to state of the art salt water systems so we don't have to use all the harsh chemicals.

We were the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to install room side heaters for guests to stay nice and warm and nude on winter nights.

We were the first of ALL Palm Springs hotels to install high pressure cooling systems poolside and constantly upgrade it and even now most places don't have them as they are very expensive to operate. But, then our guests comfort is more important to us.For instance we went through a costly upgrade of the system last year and it has been wonderful for our guests all summer long.

We were the first of ALL hotels to propose to the city of Palm Springs that they start a recycling program for small resorts in town. And they accepted that idea.

We were the first nudist resort in the US to have top of the line king sized beds as standard in rooms. Guests ALWAYS tell us that they sleep better here than at any other hotel anywhere else that they have been to.

. We have always been the best value of ALL nudist resorts and one of the best values of all hotels in Palm Springs. We've been recognized by both trip advisor and MSNBC for being such a great value.

We were one of the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to offer free WIFI and we were the resort that convinced the city of Palm Springs to make Time Warner Roadrunner to charge hotels only a flat monthly wifi fee instead of trying to extract daily use fees from Palm Springs guests. I am a past President of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce, so I have used our influence for the benefit of all visitors to our beautiful city.

The Terra Cotta Inn is the BEST nudist resort in America for first timers

Nudists all know we are the BEST nudist resort in the United States for first timers. Even our local newspaper, the Desert Sun reported we are the most mainstream nudist resort in American and perfect for couples trying topless or nude sunbathing for the first time. But, not all first timers know this.

I just read a review of our resort from a couple that has been to many nudist resorts. This is what he wrote:

"...The wife, my wife, not just any wife, did have a blast playing tug-a-war with Jude. She, Jude, really is a cute puppy.

One observation that I made while at Terra Cotta Inn, ... was that there does appear to have been a slight shift in the demographic. It seemed like there were more young adults around the pool than I remember seeing in prior visits...I prefer to think that the whole Nakation idea is catching on. We can only hope.

A couple of more notes about Terra Cotta Inn. This especially goes out to first timers... If you're thinking of that nude beach in Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida, etc, as a place to introduce your reluctant, nervous, unsure, wife to nude sunbathing, social nudism, or any other variation of the theme that doesn't involve being ogled, leered at, or surreptitiously photographed... STOP THINKING NOW! You're obviously not very good at it. If at all possible, Terra Cotta Inn is the sort of place you need to take her too if you expect to have a rat's chance in the crazy cat lady's house of ever having her say let's go back. Unless, of course, she's into being ogled, leered at, surreptitiously photographed, etc. Once off the beach, some clubs, while not open to the public spectacle that ruins many nude beaches and first experiences, are pretty serious about concepts such as nude, clothes free, nudist, etc. If she's at all spooked by the idea of being nude amongst strangers, a clothing optional resort like Terra Cotta Inn is the perfect choice for a first visit..."

Well we thank him for his honest opinions. Still, every week we get calls and e-mails from people who took their wife or girlfriend to a nude beach or another nudist resort for her first experience and she hated it. And he now wants to know how to convince her to try our place. Rarely will she try it as in her mind all nude places are the same which is not true. Go as our guest wrote, if you go to a wrong place, good luck getting her to try it again.

Nudist Resort selected by LA TImes BEST of Southern California

The LA Times newspaper came out today and they selected the best in 120 different categories of where to go, what to eat, what to do, etc. in Southern California.

The Best hotel that was selected was a Ritz Carlton.

However, the complete surprise was the BEST, most popular resort that was selected. It was a nudist resort. Yes, that's right, us, the Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa was picked as the BEST resort in ALL Southern California, textile or nudist.

Now of course we were not selected as the best because of being snobby and trendy, super expensive and overpriced like so many other places. No, LA Times wanted to know what were the most popular, fun places, to shop at, eat at, and vacation at. And there's where Terra Cotta Inn excels.

Our guests have so much fun here. We have one of the highest repeat guest rates in the travel industry at just over 80%. We are one of the best values of ALL hotels and resorts in Southern California.

Cyber Monday Discount Sales Event at Terra Cotta Inn, Palm Springs, California

Palm Springs Life Magazine picks Terra Cotta Inn as one of the Best hotels in the Palm Springs area

I've been wanting to do a story about how our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa was picked as one of the best boutique hotels in Palm Springs in December but haven't had the chance until now.

In the December issue of our local magazine, Palm Springs Life Magazine, the Best of the Best issue, we were picked as one of the 3 BEST of all boutique hotels in the whole Palm Springs area.

For years, Palm Springs Life Magazine had only 1 category for the BEST hotels and resorts in town. All hotels were lumped together whether you were a 17 room clothing optional resort like ours or a 500 room boring mega chain resort. Naturally, the boring mega chain resorts were always selected.

The local chamber of commerces, hotel association and others kept asking for a 2nd category where smaller hotels could be ranked. Finally in 2009, Palm Springs Life Magazine came up with a boutique hotel category and we were selected #2 of all smaller boutique hotels in the whole Palm Springs area. What is nice is the #1 and #3 hotels are actually small chain hotels with locations all over the US. Both places have Public Relations firms that work very hard to get those places noticed by the press. We truly were the ONLY independent hotel that was honored. And of course we have no PR firm pitching our resort to the press.

I have always said for nude recreation to gain in popularity, you have to be able to compete with regular textile hotels. Since we opened 15 years ago, I didn't want to be just the leader of nudist hotels in Palm Springs, I wanted to be considered the leader of all the small resorts in Palm Springs. And this magazine rating proves we are.

For instance, we were the FIRST of ALL hotels in Palm Springs that invested in a salt water system pool and jacuzzi which feels heavenly on your bare skin. We are still one of only 2 hotels that has invested in a state of the art poolside cooling system so our guests are nice and comfortable in the summer. So while we enjoy a 85-90% occupancy rate in the summer, all other hotels struggle to be busy on weekends, because they haven't invested in the poolside cooling systems.
We were the first small resort to get a spa license to offer massages. And our therapists have consistently been rated some of the best in the area.

We are still the ONLY small resort to serve restaurant grade fruit for breakfast like the larger resorts. It costs from 2-3 times the amount compared to fruit from a Costco or the grocery store, but it is picked ripe so it is fantastic tasting.

And there are lots more things where we are the leader in Palm Springs (for instance we have ALWAYS been considered the BEST VALUE small resort in town), but I won't bore you by naming all of them.

Suite 101 website suggests a vacation at The Terra Cotta Inn as an alternative to Mexico and or Florida

The online magazine Suite101.com is extremely popular. Alexa ranks it the 302 most popular website in the US.

Yesterday, they published an article giving suggestions for alternative, fun vacations this springtime. They wrote instead of the same old boring Florida or Mexico vacations you should come to sunny palm Springs, California. .

I have been saying this for years. Florida and Mexico are way overrated. Florida is the rainiest state in the nation and is colder than Palm Springs in the winter and spring.. And who wants to overpay for some mediocre, overpriced vacation in Mexico? Certainly not you.
