15th Annual Palm Springs International Shortfest Film Festival runs until June 29th

The Palm Springs International Shortfest film festival runs from today until Monday June 29th. It is lots of fun as many famous young movie stars attend to try to find the next hot new director.

The winner of this festival automatically has a bid in the Academy Awards for best short film.

Here's the story:

"...This is the first year the film festival, which has a roster of 315 films, will be in held in June instead of August.

...Now in its 15th year, the festival is one of the most respected, and this year programmers fielded more than 2,500 entries from around the world. There will be 76 world premieres, 43 North American premieres and 14 U.S. premieres among the 52 themed programs.

The festival is expecting 20,000-25,000 attendees, and advance sales are slightly ahead of last year.

...Some of the filmmakers include household names such as Demi Moore directing "Streak," starring Brittany Snow, Rumer Willis and Madeline Zima; Courteney Cox-Arquette directing and starring in "The Monday Before Thanksgiving" along with Laura Dern and Rosemary Harris; and Marianne Jean-Baptiste directing "Ink."

...He said the films range from narrative shorts to animated shorts to one horror film....
