Every year in downtown Palm Springs, there is a tour of historic inns. Although we are a historic inn, we are not included in the tour as we are about 3 miles away from downtown.
We were built in the sunny part of Palm Springs. Downtown is right next to a
10,000ft mountain chain. Downtown is right in the shadow of the mountain. The Terra Cotta Inn was built away from downtown, so the sun sets on a lower part of the mountain for us. In the winter we get an extra 30 minutes of sunshine compared to downtown (and other nude places) and in the summer an extra 1 hour of sunshine.
This is one of the many reasons why we are one of the most popular of ALL resorts in Palm Springs.

Our clothing optional resort is also a historic inn. We were designed by Albert Frey who is Palm Springs' most famous architect. We were originally designed as a celebrity resort where Marilyn Monroe, Spencer Tracy, Hope Hope, Frank Sinatra, President Kennedy and many more famous celebrities stayed (we still have a few from time to time being so close to Hollywood).
