Why The Terra Cotta Inn does not take online Reservations

We have never taken online reservations here at The Terra Cotta Inn. Occasionally we get asked why. Today I saw a good article that explains our philosophy. Here is what they wrote:

As all nudists and naturists know, Terra Cotta Inn is the most popular nude sunbathing resort in Palm Springs, California. We are the only nude sunbathing resort that caters to guests on vacation and will even sell out midweek. The press is always picking us as the best nude sunbathing resort to stay at in Palm Springs or out west. Because we are known as the most mainstream nude sunbathing resort in the west and perfect for couples trying topless or nude sunbathing for the first time (from Desert Sun newspaper), we have lots of first timers contact us. As nudists all know, not all first timers realize that nudist resorts are not sex clubs and are not for swingers.

We screen our potential guests with every single phone call. Probably 20% of new people that call were looking for a sex clubs or swinger resorts. We always recommend them to go elsewhere. If we were like some other nude hotels and booked anybody with a credit card, then we would have lots of people staying here for the wrong reasons. Part of the reason we are so successful is we do carefully screen our guests and that is one of the many reasons why we have one of the highest repeat guest rates in the travel industry at just over 80% repeats.

The other reason we don't take reservations online is because we are very popular and do sell out. We get guests calling or e-mailing asking about certain dates where we are already sold out. This way, we can suggest what we have available. Many of our guests are flexible as far as their vacation time is concerned. In the summer for instance we have lots of school teachers. So they can easily pick different dates to stay here.

Once repeat guests learn the way we operate is to ensure they have their best vacation here ever, they are happy we don't book online.

Morningside Inn, Palm Springs guests love Terra Cotta Inn

Last year The Morningside Inn nudist resort here in sunny Palm Springs, California was sold. We were very sad to see Vern and Jill leave Palm Springs as they were friends of ours. We used to hold joint New Years Eve parties together. Morning Side is now being turned into a gay hotel for gentlemen. Since Vern and Jill sold, we have had lots of guests from Morning Side Inn stay with us, Terra Cotta Inn and we have become their new, nude home in Palm Springs.

Morningside Inn was a 10 room resort on about 1/3 of an acre. Terra Cotta Inn is a 17 room inn on 1 1/4 acres. We are almost 4 times their size, yet, just 7 more rooms. Morningside Inn guests love our spacious grounds and large rooms. For instance our regular deluxe rooms are 300 sq ft which is about the size of the Morningside Inn's large rooms with kitchenettes. And all of our rooms have fantastic quality king sized beds (for a great nights sleep), refrigerators, microwaves, flat screen TV's, DVD players with free library, in room coffee and more. You can easily stay here for a week or longer.

Our pool and jacuzzi are both salt water systems. We keep our pool heated to 86F and they both can be used 24 hours a day.

We serve a free breakfast everyday and afternoon snacks. We use a local restaurant to cater lunches at very reasonable prices or you are more than welcome to bring your own food. Just like Morningside Inn, we allow you to bring your own beverages.

Guests of Morningside were very loyal to Vern and Jill. Now that they have come here, they find they love Terra Cotta Inn just as much. They tell us we are now the only nudist resort they will go to in Palm Springs.

Just like Morningside, we are owner operated so you get great personal customer service. They all say they are looking for smaller personal resorts instead of big naked impersonal ones. That's why they loved Morningside and Terra Cotta Inn so much. Our guests are super friendly and very nice and social just like Morningside.

There are many reasons why we have been the nudist resort leader of Palm Springs. We were the 1st of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to convert our pool and Jacuzzi to state of the art salt water systems so we don't have to use all the harsh chemicals like typical pools.

We were the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to install room side heaters for guests to stay nice and warm and nude on winter nights.

We were the first of ALL Palm Springs hotels to install high pressure poolside cooling systems and constantly upgrade it through out the years. Even now most places don't have them as they are very expensive to operate. But, then our guests comfort is more important to us. For instance we went through a costly upgrade of the system last year and it has been wonderful for our guests all summer long which is one of the major reasons why we're the most popular place to stay at in town inthe summer if you want to be comfortable outside.

We were the first of ALL hotels to propose to the city of Palm Springs that they start a recycling program for small resorts in town. And they accepted that idea.

We were the first nudist resort in the US to have top of the line king sized beds as standard in rooms. Guests ALWAYS tell us that they sleep better here than at any other hotel anywhere else that they have been to.

We have always been the best value nudist resort in rthe US and one of the best values of all hotels in Palm Springs. We've been recognized by both trip advisor and MSNBC for being such a great value. And just this October, AOL Travel picked us as the best value nudist resort in the world. And we still do not have hidden resort or grounds fees. So before booking anywhere else, always ask that question. And 2012 is the 5th year in a row, TCI has not raised room rates.

We were one of the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to offer free WIFI and we were the resort that convinced the city of Palm Springs to make our local cable provider to charge hotels only a flat monthly wifi fee instead of trying to extract daily usage fees from Palm Springs guests. It is easy to see why guests will stay for 1 night up to 3 months in these comfortable, large rooms. Our room walls are also a very cool design painted by a 2 time Grammy award winning artist.

We were banned from posting on Facebook for 3 days

Facebook is the only company6 of it's size that does not have a customer service department. I was recently banned from facebook for posting nudity or pornography. This time as I clicked through their prompts to see my "penalty" I couldn't go back to download the offending page.

Earlier this year, I did think in advance and printed off a page.

This is the type of photo that puts me in the "doghouse" with facebook.

If there is nudity here, than EVERY single photo on facebook showing a women's bare shoulder shows nudity or pornography.

Every single spa photo, etc that shows more skin that this photo does needs to be delted by facebook. Of course probably 1/2 their photos would be gone.

Facebook, get with the times. This photo is NOT pornographic nor does it show frontal nudity. It shows bare shoulders. It doesn't even show cleavage.
