As you can see, this photo was deleted from facebook for nudity, even though as far as anyone knows, Mary Clare could have been wearing a tube top, bikini top, dress, etc. behind the photo. It doesn't even show cleavage!
Facebook has long had this nudity and breast phobia and many times acts like 12 year old boys tittering in a corner looking at woman in old National Geographic Magazines. And since Facebook has no customer service department, there is no way to correct their mistakes or appeal decisions. I was banned from posting for 7 or 30 days, I forget which for posting this non nude "nude" photo.
Tumblr, Twitter, Google, Yahoo and many more sites are able differentiate between pornography and nudity, why can't facebook. They already know if you are 18 or older, and they even let facebook pages be 18 and over pages. So it shouldn't be hard.
Facebook says they don't allow hate groups too. Yet there is an I Hate Israel Site that has been up a while and a I hate the US sites. So basically, facebook doesn't enforce their rules except for their fear of nudity and breasts.
Even Web Pro News says lighten up facebook. See their link by clicking here

We were banned from posting on Facebook for 3 days
Facebook is the only company6 of it's size that does not have a customer service department. I was recently banned from facebook for posting nudity or pornography. This time as I clicked through their prompts to see my "penalty" I couldn't go back to download the offending page.
Earlier this year, I did think in advance and printed off a page.
This is the type of photo that puts me in the "doghouse" with facebook.
If there is nudity here, than EVERY single photo on facebook showing a women's bare shoulder shows nudity or pornography.
Every single spa photo, etc that shows more skin that this photo does needs to be delted by facebook. Of course probably 1/2 their photos would be gone.
Facebook, get with the times. This photo is NOT pornographic nor does it show frontal nudity. It shows bare shoulders. It doesn't even show cleavage.

According to Facebook this photo is pornographic or sexual

My facebook account was deleted last week. So last Friday I opened a new account. This morning I woke up to a facebook message saying the above photo of Mary Clare working in front of a computer was deleted for violating facebook policies. It was deleted because it is either "pornographic or contains nudity, or is inappropriately sexual."
Now I posted other photos. One is from a strip club showing the two women. The other is from Playboy. Those photos have been up for months.
Mary Clare's photo does not even show cleavage as far as anyone could tell she could be wearing a bandeau top behind the computer.
Naturally, Facebook has no one to talk to as they have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. And yes, us the members are customers. Facebook is no different than network TV. Yes, it is free, but the reason it is free is because us the customers give them our eyes for their advertising revenue. Without us, they have no value.
Of course it's not just nudists who are affected. FB has deleted breast cancer groups, breast feeding groups, art museum paintings, artists, etc. Each time the organization that had their their account deleted had to go to the press and create a stink. FB then reactivates the accounts and apologizes. To me having humans in a customer service department would make much more sense.
So Facebook, PLEASE start a customer service department so that silly issues such as this one or your deleting my account can be solved easily.

Great article about confusing messages about nudity and children

This is an excellent article That was written by a columnist in a British newspaper.
"Why do we give children such confusing messages about their bodies?
"Last week, during one of the hottest Easter holidays on record in the UK, my three children and I went to the local park.
It was sweltering, and after an hour or so of running about with a football, my daughter, Phoebe, who has just turned 11, had turned into a sweaty, par-boiled lobster and desperately wanted to take her T-shirt off to cool down. But she didn’t.
When I asked her why on earth not, she said in an exasperated voice, as if I didn’t understand anything, ‘Mum, I can’t take my top off in a park. People will stare and point!’...
Where boys often take their tops off in the hot summer months, many girls, even as young and totally undeveloped as my younger daughter, already feel that they ‘shouldn’t’ expose their top halves in public. Because their nakedness is somehow . . . wrong.
To realise that my own daughter already feels this way came as a real shock to me. I was raised by parents who never shied away from stripping off and jumping in a mountain lake or sunbathing topless on the beach, and I was never even aware of my own nakedness as a pre-pubescent girl. Naked or not — it made no difference to me. I felt totally free, and happy...
...they have picked up on the message from outside our home that showing naked flesh in public is something unthinkable, even for children...
They, like millions of children in Britain, have been indoctrinated with the idea that nakedness is rude, naughty or shameful — and that it’s always, always connected with sex...
A naked child has become, for many, a potential sex abuse incident, rather than the beautiful, pure thing it is, despite the reality, which is that — mercifully — abuse by paedophiles is far less prevalent than the furore that surrounds them would imply.
None of my friends swam or sunbathed topless. Instead, they hid themselves away, squeezing their pubescent breasts into bikinis whose purpose was, paradoxically, to make the wearer look sexier than if they had nothing on at all. It seemed that wearing sexy swimwear was OK, but to be naked and natural wasn’t. Which I found very confusing.
And to be honest, I still do. Beaches this summer will be full of toddlers wearing bikini tops. One mum I know impressed upon her daughter: ‘It’s to keep your boobies covered up.’ Her what?! She’s three years old!
'Public nudity is a crime here, and yet pornography and hypersexual advertising is everywhere in the UK and North America'...
Most damaging in all of this is the bizarre paradox that this whispering, blushing shunning of nakedness comes hand in hand with our culture’s obsession with sex and sexuality.
As a scientist friend of mine, and father of one, put it: ‘Public nudity is a crime here, and yet pornography and hypersexual advertising is everywhere in the UK and North America.
‘The ever-present appearance of sex and sexual messages in our culture and media goes along with fear and horror at actual nudity — and causes all kinds of problems for people’s sexual activity and self-confidence.’
When nudity is considered unacceptable, but highly-charged sexual messages in advertising and pop videos are not, is it any surprise that so many children are growing up with a confused attitude to their bodies, or feeling ashamed to take their tops off in a park when they’re hot?
What’s even more extraordinary is that violence and bad language are tolerated far more liberally than nudity on television and in films, especially in the U.S. and UK...
The message our children pick up is that blasting each other to pieces and using foul, aggressive, threatening language is fine and dandy, but showing a nipple? Perish the thought!
Compare this to other countries, where nudity is seen as part of life, and where children are raised without ever thinking to question it. One former classmate, who is Spanish and has a two-year-old daughter, commented: ‘Kids run around naked in Spain on beaches and in parks in the good weather and it’s totally normal.’...

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss would have been 107 today. "I wish we could do what they do in Katroo. They sure know how to say "Happy Birthday to You!" (from the book Happy Birthday to You by Dr Seuss.
Now most people remember Dr. Seuss for his fun children's books like The Cat in the Hat
But he also wrote a pro nudity book called The Seven Lady Godivas. He wrote "There was not one; there were Seven Lady Godivas and their nakedness actually was not a thing of shame." Dr, Seuss then leads readers through a naked version of history to show where 7 famous proverbs originated like "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."
We have a re-issued copy of the original The Seven lady Godivas. The original was written in 1939 and re-issued in 1967. It's a fun book with lots of fun naked drawings of the Seven lady Godiava.
Happy Birthday Dr Seuss!!! I hope the Birthday Honk Honker gives you a big blast from his horn today.

Is Facebook too strict with nudity?

It seems Facebook has a vendetta for some reason against the human body. Even for simple things like bare backs on a woman.
Facebook banned breastfeeding photos. They've banned breast cancer photos. They've banned many of The Terra Cotta Inn photos and we did not even show frontal nudity. Then they've banned artwork from artists and art schools. I guess Facebook figures they haven't pissed off enough people yet, now it's time to ban photos of women who try to duplicate the famous Demi Moore Vanity Fair photo pregnancy photo.
Off course facebook says it's a violation of TOS, terms of service. They don't allow nudity or "post content that: is hateful." Yet, they allow groups titled I hate Israel and I hate America to exist. Those are OK, but dare show a piece of side boob? Never.
I know facebook is scared to death of cleavage, unless it is from hot babes. They would love to have everyone wear bathing suits from the late 1880's unless you're a Victoria Secret's models showing cleavage or bare backs. Then that's OK.
SF Gate carried this story:
"Does Mark Zuckerberg have a thing against maternal women? He lets the stripper shots slide after all.
Mother-to-be Angela Hurst hired a professional photographer to take pregnancy shots. The 34-year-old who lives in England wanted a portrait of herself in that striking naked pregnancy pose that Demi Moore made so famous when she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair in August 1991.
She loved the images so much, according to the British Sun, that she used one as her profile picture on Facebook.
Three days later, Facebook yanked the photo because its terms of use bar nudity... It was meant to be a celebration of a pregnant body and Hurst was covering all of her "bits" just as Demi Moore did in her photo.
"I had a lot of messages from people, particularly women, saying how much they loved it," Hurst told the Sun. "It was something nice to remember my pregnancy by and was not sexual -- and if Demi Moore can do it, why can't I?"
When Facebook banned some photos of mothers breastfeeding their children because it deemed the images inappropriate for showing exposed breasts, mothers were outraged. Some 200,000 people joined a group called "Hey Facebook, breast feeding is not obscene!"
On the page's wall, members point out that Facebook allows many other types of photos in which women are revealing a lot of skin. Rebecca Love writes in: "How stupid are these people?? People can post pics of women with g-string bikini's barely covering nipples & other places, but a woman showing off her baby bump is obscene?"...
And then there are all those Brits who are pointing fingers at those prudish Americans...

What was interesting is the story first broke in the Sun newspaper in London. Facebook originally blocked the link to that story. I guess they have changed their attitude as they realized the stupid PR mistake they were causing.
And it would be so easy for facebook to solve this issue. Yahoo, flickr, google, tumblr, and I'm sure many more sites have 18+ pages. Facebook has our ages. Just create an 18+ zone. And Mark, I won't even sue you like your Harvard buddies did for giving you that idea. That one's on me.

Excellent article about women's rights to bare their breasts in public

In the late 1800's in teh US, the sight of a woman's bare ankle was scandalous. Then in the roaring '20's flapper girls showing off bare calves were considered "loose." By the 1940's women could finally wear skirts coming below the knees and 2 piece (not bikini) bathing suits were coming into style. In 1946, French engineer Louis Reard is given credit for "inventing" the modern bikini. And of course in Europe, topless bikinis are very popular on all beaches, especially Spanish beaches where topless sunbathing is legal.
Yet, if you look at the above photo, you will see it is of a mosaic from the 4th century AD of Italian women in bikinis.
And going back further Queen Nefertiti of Egypt and many fellow Egyptians enjoyed public nudity.
"Nudity in Early Egypt
A fascinating tale of early sun worship and nudity was unearthed in 1887 at Tell-el-Amarna, a small Egyptian village on the banks of the Nile some 200 miles south of Cairo. There, an Arab woman accidentally stumbled upon the baked-clay tablet archives of Pharaoh Akhen-Aton (1385-1353 B.C.). It was learned through the subsequent translation of these tablets that the brilliant young pharaoh and his exquisitely beautiful queen, Nefertiti, considered the sun, Aton, to be the true wellspring of life and thus justified the practice of nudism for spiritual and physical advancement." from http://www.primitivism.com/nudity.htm
It seems "modern" American society has forgotten how to enjoy life clothes free.
Today in the US, women can still be arrested for being topless at most beaches and doing activities men can do shirtless. But, don't forget, men could be arrested for being shirtless at beaches until the 1930's, because it was thought women would not be able to handle the sight of a man's bare nipple.
A college student from MA wrote a very good article about women needing to get the right to bare their breasts anywhere it is acceptable for a man to do so.
Here it is:
"If you’ve ever been out walking on a hot summer day, you know that sometimes clothes can make you unbearably sweaty and uncomfortable. If you’re a man, you can try to cope with this problem by taking your shirt off, and no one will complain. If you’re a woman and you do the same, you’re likely to get arrested.
In most parts of the U.S., it is illegal for women to go topless in public. Women may legally do so only in six states, and specific cities and beaches. If a woman goes topless in public anywhere else in America, it is considered indecent exposure. In Massachusetts, the maximum penalty for indecent exposure is up to six months in jail and a $200 fine...
The strongest argument for keeping women’s tops on is that women must be protected from men. According to this argument, men simply are not able to control themselves at the sight of a woman’s bare breasts and would sexually harass, assault, or even rape them. However, women are expected to cover their hair in certain cultures and religious groups. These groups believe that if a woman’s hair— a supposedly sexual part of her body – was to be seen, men would not be able to control their desires. Regardless of religious belief, though, women typically leave their hair uncovered in the U.S., since we don’t consider it to be a sexual entity. Even if a woman does have beautiful hair, men are easily able to control themselves. There is nothing inherently sexual about a woman’s hair, and similarly, there is nothing inherently sexual about a woman’s breasts. Both ideas, in fact, are mere societal constructs.
Other people will say that they aren’t comfortable with being forced to see women’s breasts in public. After all, not everybody has attractive breasts, and who wants to see ugly women go topless? Nonetheless, not everybody has a body that is widely considered attractive, and yet we are “forced” to see them every day – sometimes in shorts or a bathing suit. Finding someone, male or female, unattractive is not a viable reason for forcing them to cover up, or for arresting them if they refuse to do so...
Another pervasive argument against women’s toplessness is that children must be protected from the sight of breasts. However, breastfed children grow up seeing their mothers’ breasts, and it doesn’t seem to affect them adversely. Moreover, European children who go to public beaches see women’s breasts, and it doesn’t traumatize them...
Far from preventing sexual assaults, the law against women’s toplessness is part of a way of thinking that is harmful to both men and women. If we take steps to change the law, our society’s attitudes will adjust and such a change in attitude will protect women far more effectively than a t-shirt ever could.

It's still so sad that Mary Clare, if she wanted to walk outside would have to wear at least a tube top instead of being able to be topless. Hopefully, this situation will change for future generations.

Facebook needs an 18+ policy There's too much stupid censorship

The above topless photo is Patty, our manager at Terra Cotta Inn. This photo was our Facebook resort web page photo for Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa here: http://bit.ly/TerraCottaInnFBPage
A few months ago this photo was taken down by Facebook warning us that they do not allow nudity, and if we persisted, they would delete our account. Now you see more nudity in spa ads in The Los Angeles Times, etc., but don't try to argue common sense with Facebook. Also I see more nudity on Spa pages in Facebook. But, since those spas are not nudist, it's OK.
A fan of the popular Australian singer Kylie Minogue posted a photo on Facebook. I don't know on what Faacebook page it went on. The photo was taken down for "nudity." Here's the story:
"An innocent picture of singer Kylie Minogue with a teddy bear was censored by Facebook for being 'nude', all because she was holding her microphone near his nether regions. CLICK HERE FOR THE KYLIE MINOGUE TEDDY BEAR PHOTO
From the picture taken on stage at London's G-A-Y club, Minogue, 42, can be seen sporting a big smile on her face as she hugged the oversized bear, the Daily Telegraph reported.
A fan posted the snap on Facebook but the site's censors quickly took it down, explaining, "we do not allow photos that contain nudity"..."
For the full story, Click here
I have only followed Kylie's career a little as I know she is a breast cancer survivor. that changed her life. She's said "I experienced a world of illness and positive attitudes. These experiences contributed to making me a more mature person." She is also a very fun loving person as you can see in the photo.
As you can see, it's a fun photo with NO NUDITY. Facebook needs to have an 18+ rule. Google does with blogspot. This blog shows no frontal nudity, and our sister blog at http://terracottainn.blogspot.com has frontal nudity and has an 18+ warning. Flickr owned by yahoo has an 18+ section for frontal nudity.
Our Facebook page and my facebook account is set up 18+ as I don't want to have to deal with teenage boys on my Facebook account. So it would be very easy to do.
Facebook, it's time to become an adult instead of a prude. You already have 18+ in effect, let people over 18 post photos like the Kylie Minogue photo and simple nudity photos. It's 2010 not 1910. It's time to act mature towards the human body and adult humor.

Nudist Resorts vacations gaining in popularity

In August, 2010, USA Today newspaper reported "staycations are so 2009. It's nakations in 2010." KTLA - TV, Los Angeles in a recent poll of 2500 people asked, "Do you think women should be allowed to go topless on California Beaches?" 63.1% of people said YES!
Tripadvisor.com recently reported the results of a poll of 22,000 Americans. The results were 48% of Americans would be willing to bare all on a nude beach, up from 31% last year.
In a recent CNBC.com poll of 10,000 people, they were asked, "Would you want to go on a naked vacation?" 52% responded YES!
Why the sudden popularity? Are Americans finally shedding our puritanical past and becoming more accepting of nudity just like Europeans have for the last 50 years?
There are a number of reasons for the sudden popularity of nakations
One big reason is the economy. Americans are finally tired of overpaying for boring, big box, chain hotel vacations. They're working harder than ever. They want to make every vacation day count. People want new, fun, vacation experiences and nakations are the perfect vacation answer.
"A few years ago, bragging to your friends that you spent over $500 a night at some impersonal, nothing special hotel chain was OK," says Mary Clare Mulhall who together with her husband Tom own the very popular Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa in Sunny Palm Springs, California. Their resort site is http://sunnyfun.com
"But, not any more. Good value vacations are the new luxury. And when you can stay at an affordably luxurious resort like ours, you'll decide that birthday suits are the only thing you'll want to wear from now on for your vacations."
Recently MSNBC TV reported that Terra Cotta Inn is one of the best value nudist resorts in America. And in December, 2009 Palm Springs Life Magazine in their annual Best of the Best issue picked Terra Cotta Inn as one of the 3 best of all small resorts in the whole Palm Springs area. One of the major reasons is because the guests have so much fun.
Erich Schuttauf, the Executive Director of the American Association for Nude Recreation, http://aanr.com the largest organization dedicated to helping people learn all about the fun they're missing out on by not taking nakations, told USA Today. "all you'll need for the week (sunscreen, cap, sunglasses, shoes, and toiletries) can fit in a small carry on that will fit under the seat, avoiding even carry on bag fees."
Finally, vacations at nudist resorts are simply fun. Jennifer and her husband Scott, first time nude sunbathers at Terra Cotta Inn resort in Palm Springs, summed up why she and her husband decided to take their first nakation this summer.
"It's so romantic. The kids are with the grandparents. The sun, the water, my bare skin. It's hard to describe the feeling of freedom. Being naked with others is such a unique, special feeling. I feel so alive. I love it. We've been to Mexico and the Caribbean, been there, done that. Boring and way overpriced. Here, we've been at Terra Cotta only 2 days and already made plans to come back next year with 3 other couples we've become friends with. We've already exchanged e-mail addresses.
I was so nervous coming, but in only 15 minutes, Scott and I looked at each other and said "this is so cool. We should've done this years ago.'"
As CBS TV said, "Nudity is Taking Off."
Make this the year to finally say goodbye to your funny tan lines forever. Give the Terra Cotta Inn, Palm Springs, California a call at 1-800-786-6938 for more information. 2010 is the year of the nakation.

Facebook's nudity ban includes cute baby pictures

An Australian newspaper reports that some innocent nude baby photos were banned on Facebook's site. Of course the funny thing as the story points out is the F word is used all over Facebook, but show a little too much bare skin and poof the photo is deleted. Facebook obviously prefers vulgarity over nudity.
Here's the story:
Facebook bans nude pics of bubs
...Tobin, aged six weeks, was banned from the social networking site because he bared too much flesh...
Mum Tuscany Attard, 29, posted the semi-nude happy snap of her then three-week-old bub in an album accessible only to friends.
But Facebook last week removed the photo – in which Tobin was wearing his blue singlet but no nappy – and sent Mrs Attard a curt warning over the breach.
"Initially, I didn't know which photograph they were referring to. I was surprised that I could have violated their terms of use," the mother-of-two said.
"I had actually posted this pic accidentally. I almost deleted it but then thought, 'Nah, it's cute', and I left it up there.
"I didn't even consider that I was breaking the rules when I posted it." ...
Mrs Attard is not the only proud mum choosing to share baby photos on social networking sites.
Renee Barnes, 29, who regularly posts photos of her one-year-old daughter Aria to Facebook, said removing the photo was an overreaction.
"I loved Facebook to share my first thoughts and photos of motherhood, but I think it was unnecessary to delete the baby's pic," she said.
Facebook declined interview requests from The Sunday Mail and instead provided an extract from their terms of use, which stated it did not allow photos that contained nudity, drug use, violence or other offensive material on its site.

Northwestern University online student magazine recommends suiting up in your birthday suit

Contrary to what the press reports, we find more and more young people trying nude recreation and LOVING it.
Now, we have always been unique. Being a vacation resort, we have always had guests from their 20's to 70's stay at our clothing optional resort just like any other hotel like a Hilton or Marriott.
We encourage people of all ages to try a nice nude vacation. You will love it too. We are happy to see a Northwestern online magazine recommending nude recreation.
Here's the story from Northwestern Universities independent student magazine, North by Northwestern.
"Birthday) suit up!
By Ali Bruzek
It’s almost time for finals. Feeling like your brain has taken a hit? Maybe you should shed a few layers. Hank Hyena’s article, Get Naked: It’s Good For Your Brain, has created controversy on whether being naked really can do a body, and mind, good. Currently there are no studies linking brain benefits and nudity, but there have been some associations to a healthier life.
When asked, some students had no qualms about studying nude. “I wrote a whole essay butt naked on my boyfriend’s bed while he was at practice,” says Weinberg Junior Liza Engstrom...
So whether you’re baring it all or just a bit, here are some novel nudity tips:
Strip Away Stress
A study published in the Journal of Psychology in 1984 found that social nudists had a more positive body self-concept than those who were nonnudists...
“People talk about how it’s relaxing, de-stressing… and obviously there are benefits to more sunlight and vitamin D, of course,”...
“When you shed your clothes, you shed all of the stress in your daily life,” says Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator for the AANR.
Exposing Reposing
Sure, your footy pajamas are cute, but your skin could really use some time to breathe. The evidence is anecdotal, but most people sleep better naked because they feel more comfortable and as a result, have a more restful sleep...
In Nude Company
There are 275 nudist resorts across the country — including in the Chicagoland area. “The misconception in a lot of places is that you have to drop your clothes at the door before you come in the gate — that’s not the case at all,” says Mr. Williams. “You can ease your way in.”
And the general consensus? “Within 5 minutes of getting undressed, it feels like most natural thing in the world.”...
...at the very least, you’ll save yourself a couple of bucks next laundry day."

Northwestern is a great University. It's a Big Ten university.
Of course the University of Illinois is even greater. Why you ask? That's where Mary Clare and I met our freshman year. And of course that's where Marc Andreessen went to school. He is the designer of the Mosaic and the Netscape browser. Without browsers, the internet pretty much was for academics and government people. He really revolutionized access to the net by everyone.
Actually, Mary Clare and I both have a connection to Northwestern. Mary Clare is from Evanston where Northwestern is located. She worked at the Northwestern Co-op bookstore. She used to see Bill Murray there all the time as he was going to Northwestern and would stop in as it was a hang out back then for students.
I took maybe 3-5 business classes at Northwestern after I graduated from U of I before I went to De Paul to work on a masters.
Northwestern should be proud of their connection to nude recreation. The University of Illinois is as they profiled Mary Clare and I in their Jan/Feb issue 2003 of the Illinois alumni magazine as one of the famous graduates from the University. Considering they have 50,000 students and only 6-10 graduates a year are profiled, that is a very big honor.
The Univ of Illinois obviously is proud that we were graduates.

Jessica Simpson: I will never do screen nudity.
Hmmm, let's analyze this story. Jessica Simpson and an intellectual movie role?
Dukes of Hazzard was a major stretch of her acting abilities. I think the world is safe knowing that Jessica will NEVER be offered an intellectual role.
Here's the story:
"Jessica Simpson has vowed never to film a nude scene.
The singer doesn't like the idea of other people seeing her naked.
‘I will never do nudity,' says Jessica, 29. ‘I don't care how dark and intellectual the role could be, you know.
‘I don't care if I frickin' could get an Oscar for it, I'm not going to do it. Those accolades mean nothing to me.'...
‘I don't think people deserve to see what's under my clothing,' she tells Allure. ‘That's only for my next husband..."

Photo of JFK with nude sunbathing women on a yacht a hoax
This week a big deal was made of a photo where President Kennedy was supposedly on a yacht with naked women. People said if this had come out during his presidency it would have changed the world as he would have been kicked out of office.
Why is America so hung up on nudity. the President of France's wife has modeled nude. No big deal. Here in the US, when President Obama was filmed on the beach shirtless, you would have thought he went running through Times Square naked at midnight on New Year's Eve.
Get over it Americans, nudity is no big deal. It's just skin. Europe has sexually matured, time for America to sexually mature too.
Here's the story:
"Exclusive' photo of JFK with naked women a hoax
The celebrity gossip site TMZ.com got punk'd today when it fell for a photo hoax purportedly showing John F. Kennedy sunning on a yacht full of naked women.
Trumpeting an "exclusive," with the headline "The JFK Photo That Could Have Changed History," TMZ said it obtained the "never-before published photograph" that "could have altered world events." TMZ said it believed the crumpled black-and-white snapshot was taken in the mid-1950s, before Kennedy was president...
The Smoking Gun did a little due diligence and found that the image — featuring a naked lady jumping into the sea — appeared in the November 1967 issue of Playboy. The color photo was part of a spread headlined "Charter Yacht Party: How to Have a Ball on the Briny with an Able-Bodied Complement of Ship's Belles."
The lounging man in the photo? A paid model...

79% of Californians support nude beaches and nude sunbathing
Mary Clare and I are back from a vacation this week. We were celebrating her birthday.
There was a lot of nudist news this week. One of the big stories is a Naturist Education Foundation California poll was released.
In November 2009, NEF or the Naturist Education Foundation commissioned a poll by Zogby International. They are a famous international polling company best know for their political polls.
In NEF's poll they asked Californians 5 questions. The first was:
"Do you agree or disagree that people should be able to enjoy nude sunbathing on a beach or other location that is designated for that purpose?"
79% said they agreed, 6% were unsure, and only 16% disagreed.
This is major news as almost 80% of Californians felt their fellow citizens should be able to enjoy nude sunbathing.
Another question was "Do you agree or disagree that you are personally offended by non-sexual nudity of others?" 37% agreed, 60% disagreed and 3% were unsure.
This is also big news. Federal, State and local governments throughout the US have been actively expanding their roles of Big Brother, trying to protect Americans from the site of nude bodies, yet in California 60% of people are not offended by the site of a nude body.
The federal government made a big stink over the showing of a woman's rear end on NYPD Blue show, yet it appears most people didn't have care.
Finally they asked "Have you, personally ever gone 'skinny -dipping' or nude sunbathing with others?" 40% said yes, 56% said no, 3% refused to answer the questions and 1% was not sure.
For the NEF poll Click here
40% of Californians have gone skinny dipping. For perspective, I found online that 7.6% of Americans consider themselves golfers. Way more people have skinny dipped than golfed. There are municipal golf courses all over America benefiting only a tiny minority of Americans. Where are the municipal skinny dipping pools or nude beaches?
Most cities have to subsidise their municipal golf course as they are money losers. Yes, that means that taxpayers pay extra taxes so a small minority can have cheaper tee times. Yet, nude beaches like Haulover in Florida are profit centers for cities. Our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa brings around $75,000 year in room taxes for Palm Springs, one of the highest amounts per room of ALL hotels in town.
Yet, cities, counties, and states are scared of nude beaches, pools, etc. I don't get it.
California has always led the nation. This is a major positive trend showing the acceptance of nude recreation. I hope governments pay attention to this poll.
Now we need this information to be disseminated everywhere so politicians can see that people want nude recreation.

Sharon Stone has a topless photo on the cover of Paris Match Magazine

Paris Match Magazine is one of the most popular magazines in France. It is like a combination of Time and People magazines. Sharon Stone just appeared topless on the cover of that magazine.
Now obviously, this is not a nudist photo and it has nothing to do with nudism except to show the difference between the American attitudes towards bare breasts and the European attitudes.
We have been to Europe many times. They are very casual about nudity. To them it is really no big deal. Here in many parts of America, the sight of a woman's bare breasts is almost as bad as committing murder. Actually it is probably worse as American network TV show tons of violence, but no nudity. In Europe, they consider television violence to be bad and nudity is OK.
The Sharon Stone bare breasts story on all of the American websites, showed the cover of Paris Match with stars or black bars covering Sharon Stones breasts. The few European websites I saw covering this story, shows the actual Paris Match cover.
Even with this blog, I am not going to show the original cover as google does not allow blogs to be indexed if they show any nudity. And I want this blog to be indexed. So you will have to go to my other blog at http://terracottainn.blogspot.com to see the uncensored photo.

State of Alabama bans wine label showing famous 1895 poster of a nymph and bicycle

Americans think we live in the "land of the free. Think again where nudity is involved.
Here in California, San Onofre nude beach had been a well run nude beach for around 40 years. A previous California Parks Department head came up with the Cahill policy (named after him) and the nude beaches of California were ran smoothly.
In came a new head of the parks department who had a bee in her bonnet (or up a certain part of her anatomy) about nudity and wanted to shut down San Onofre beach last year. Nudists went to court and won at the local level. They then lost at the court of appeals. Now nudists are going to appeal the ruling to the state Supreme Court.
Earlier this year, in Michigan, their alcohol control board outlawed Nude Beach Beer by Steven's Point Brewery of Wisconsin Click here for the nude beach beer story
The reason the Michigan liquor board banned it was the geniuses that run the Michigan Liquor control commission determined that the label may be "detrimental to your health" and thus needed to be banned. Now the beer inside the bottle was not considered detrimental. What is detrimental however is the thought that adults might enjoy themselves at a nude beach drinking beer.
Here's the story from Alabama:
"Alabama rules: If the nymph's naked, you can't buy that wine
In 1895, the French painter G. Massias produced this bicycle advertising poster (see above)... A wine with a label featuring the poster has been banned from sale in Alabama because it features a person "posed in an immodest or sensuous manner. Alabama's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board wants the Cycles Gladiator wine from California out of state stores and off their shelves because its label includes a small nude nymph...
Alabama's alcohol regulators are reminding stores in a warning notice that the beverage board last year ruled the label inappropriate, according to the newspaper.
For the full story click here
Many people commented on this story (120 people in less then 12 hours), almost all against the intrusion of "big brother." Many people rightly pointed out that this ban makes Alabama a laughing stock and looking like it's run by hicks. Sorry, it doesn't just make Alabama look bad, it makes all Americans look bad too.
America has a major problem with appointed politicians imposing their own personal agendas, versus doing what is right. And more and more our rights are being flushed away. we need to get a control over this political hacks before it is too late if it isn't already.

Nude Beach goers at San Onofre to get tickets after labor Day

So much for people thinking we live in a democracy here in California.
San Onofre nude beach has been a nude beach for almost 50 years. Then last year a dictator of "moral values" took over as the head (but obviously not brains) of the states Parks department. Obviously she has major issues with nudity and people enjoying themselves while nude sunbathing.
She declared San Onofre Nude Beach illegal to go nude sunbathing. Naturists sued. They won in the lower courts, but lost in the court of appeals. Now they are deciding whether to appeal to the California Supreme Court.
This is a very popular nude beach. It is the most popular one at the San Onofre area. In a poll that was on the San Clemente Times website (before the results were taken down) it was over 80% of people were in favor of the nude beach.
So much for us being a democracy. It's sad here in America that one nasty politician with power can undo 50 years of public use of a nude beach.
Here is the story:
"Bare beach goers at Trail 6 in San Onofre State Beach will get away with a warning through the summer.
State officials said they plan to educate the public at the traditionally clothing-optional beach about the new ban -- posting signs and verbally warning state park visitors through Labor Day weekend.
"After that time, appropriate enforcement action will be taken including citation and arrest if necessary," said Ken Kramer, district superintendent of the Orange Coast District. The citation fine is unclear because it's ultimately determined by the courts, Kramer said.
At the same time, a group of nudists who want to keep it clothing-optional at the 1,000-foot stretch of beach are considering appealing their case to the state's Supreme Court after they lost the latest legal wrangling...
"Apparently, they are happy to collect the significant revenue Trail 6 generates in day use fees," Baylis said of the citation delay...
Their decision overturned a lower court's decision in which an Orange County Superior Court judge ruled that the Cahill Policy is indeed a regulation and that state Department of Parks and Recreation violated procedure when they adopted a nudity ban without first seeking public feedback...

It will be sad if it closes. We have many guests from the midwest and east coast come out here in the summer and spend Sunday nights thru Friday nights at our resort in Palm Springs and go to San Onofre on Saturday and Sunday to go nude sunbathing at the beach, so they can have a beach experience. Now they won't suffer as they will just spend the whole week at our resort, but there staying there I'm sure brought in a lot of revenue to that area as the nude beach is the post popular beach in that whole state park.
Too bad the idiots at the state Parks department don't open their eyes to see how Haulover Beach became the most popular beach in Miami because it is a nude beach. They could also look to Palm Springs where they would see that our nude resort, The Terra Cotta Inn has had the highest occupancy rate of ALL hotels in Palm Springs in the summertime for over the last 10 years.

Happy Naked Hiking Day Today
Today, Sunday is Naked Hiking Day. We have a lot of guests who go to Joshua Tree National Park which is just 1 hour north of Palm Springs to go nude hiking. We have some guests who specifically went there today to nude hike because of today being naked hiking day.
Our local newspaper wrote about naked hiking day. They asked some local people in our area if they would go hiking and they said no. Our local paper should have asked guests at our resort and they would have had a few people saying yes.
Here is the story:
"Prepare to cover your eyes today as nudist across the country plan to shed their clothes for a naked hike.
The annual tradition – Naked Hiking Day – coincides with the summer solstice, which happens this year to fall on Father’s Day.
Local hikers, however, say a nude hike in the desert heat today is unlikely...
...The Hiking Naked in Palm Springs group has attracted as many as 35 hikers and has been hiking around the Coachella Valley for more than six years, Gilbert said...
“We’re aware it happens on the summer solstice day,” McCorkle said. “With through-hikers — people who hike the trail all in one season — it’s kind of like an unofficial tradition for them.”
Local law enforcement agencies say skinny dipping poses more of a problem in the valley than naked hiking.
“It’s new to me,” said Pat Pilcher, a ranger at Joshua Tree National Park.
Valley nudists, Gilbert said, prefer the isolated hikes in Mecca Hills where Ladder Canyon is tucked away.
...Nude-hiking advocates say they aren’t out to startle people. Nudity, they say, enhances one’s appreciation of nature.
Many nude hikers go out of their way to avoid being seen choosing to hike during the week or early hours when it is likely they will have the trail alone.
Hiking boots, sunscreen and insect repellent are all recommended, even if hiking in the buff.
“The thing you have to worry about this time of year is the snakes are out,” said Ben Guitron, Indio Police Department spokesman."
For the full story click here
I normally find our guests will drive to a remote area of the Joshua Tree and hike for an hour or so in the nude to say that they have done it and then come back to our resort to relax and have fun.
There are no rules against nudity on Federal lands. My understanding from reading on this issue is a ranger will just ask people to dress if they are seen nude hiking and are not lewd. Of course any particular national park service ranger may not know the law and issue you a citation. This is one of the reasons why people hike in more remote areas.
And if you have always wanted to try topless or nude sunbathing, give us a call at 800-786-6938. Our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa is the most mainstream nudist resort in the US.

Vacationers warned No topless sunbathing in Dubai

Europeans love topless and nude sunbathing. All the beaches in Spain and France are topless. And many of the best beaches in Spain are nude.
It amazes me why Europeans would want to go topless sunbathing in nudity fearing and backwards country like the UAE where Dubai is located.
Countries like those should be boycotted by sunlovers until they join the 21st century.
Even here in America we have great nude beaches like Haulover beach in Miami to go to. Now I know that Miami is one of the rainiest cities in the US especially in the summer, and most smart nudists would never fly to Miami for a summer vacation, but then people can also come here to Palm Springs, CA to go topless or nude sunbathing. Palm Springs is the sunniest city in the US and it rarely rains at all from May until December.
At our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa,
we were picked by AOL.com as one of the 10 best clothing optional resorts in the world and the only one that caters to couples on vacation in the US.
Here is the story:
"Keep your tops on, Brit women warned
Dubai: British holidaymakers have been warned they face serious consequences if they are caught sunbathing topless or behaving indecently in the UAE.
... The new advice says "thousands of British tourists risk arrest by not checking local laws and customs before they bare all abroad".
New statistics released by the FCO yesterday show that 24 per cent of British women have sunbathed topless,... - on holiday and over half of Britons travelling abroad have kissed in a public place. {Tom's note: these are jailable offenses in Dubai.]
...the UAE, wearing skirts above the knee is unacceptable behaviour that could lead to fines or official warnings.
- Making rude gestures is considered an obscene act can be (and have been) prosecuted
- Topless sunbathing is strictly forbidden and can result in prosecution or deportation.
- Kissing in public is an offence in the country."

It is time that westerners spend their hard earned vacation money in modern societies. Why give oppressive regimes money where you can be jailed for a simple kiss in public. If these countries want to treat women as third class citizens, why should westerners support them?
We have lots of Brits vacation at our resort. I would estimate about 5% of our rooms year round are booked by Brits as we are the only nudist resort west of the Mississippi that caters to vacationers.

Disney warns people about "evil" animal nudity

Godiva who is pictured here, used to be for nudity. If she had her way, she would skip her collar. When she was young, she used to bark at people who wore clothes. And this has been documented in the Arizona Republic newspaper by a reporter that was writing about her first experience nude sunbathing at our resort.
When she went to the pool wearing clothes, Godiva barked at her, when she decided to go to her room and come out nude and sunbathe like everyone else, Godiva was fine.
Now Disney is confusing poor Godiva. It is warning people about animal nudity as if it is a "bad" thing.
Disney has a new movie called Earth. It has been getting great reviews as it shows how mankind can ruin the world not only for us, but for ALL living creatures. I have not seen it, but have been told it is very educational.
The reason I bring this up, I just read that the movie reviews caution that the movie contains "brief animal frontal nudity". I kid you not!
Here is what I read:
"I thought you would enjoy reading the review of the movie Earth. Specifically, the last paragraph mentions 'brief frontal animal nudity.' Am I missing something?
"Animals are always nude, and we see them from every angle - side, back and yes, brace yourself, the front (gasp!). Not only is this nudity brief (thank goodness), but it's animal nudity..."
- missyfern1
Dear missyfern1:
Thanks for pointing this out. You sound like somebody who has a reasonable grasp of the animal world, perhaps somebody who used to live in a beautiful part of the country where animals freely roam...
Like you, I don't think of animals as nude.
But then again, this is a Disney movie, and in that world, animals frequently wear clothes, even hats.
My other beef with this warning is the word "frontal." I assume this is to warn us about the mammals and not, say, alligators.
But being that most mammals walk on all fours, the idea of animal frontal nudity assumes the viewing perspective of an auto mechanic checking out your car's catalytic converter..."
Now I checked on line and sure enough, newspaper reviews of this movie all contained the "brief frontal animal nudity" warning. For instance you can see that warning here in t he Washington post's movie review: click here to see movie review warning
Now you know little kids could care less about nude animals. That means Disney's lawyers made them add that disclaimer because they were afraid that American adults would get upset seeing a naked polar bear, or elephant, or even god forbid a naked whale.
Has America gone nuts where we are so afraid of a creature not wearing clothes that we have to warn people that they may see naked animals in movies? What's next little tops and bottoms for female dogs when they go to the beach. And for risque female french poodles, I guess they can go topless and just wear a thong. But wait, dogs have 10 nipples. That's a lot of nipples to have to cover up. So I don't know if we should let them go topless. After all some in the religious right might get upset.
Is Disney going to go back and warn people there there is nudity in Bambi and 101 Dalmatians?
Well Godiva is doing her part to make Disney happy. Here is a picture of her wearing her new work uniform so no one can accuse her of showing improper animal frontal nudity.
If this isn't the silliest story I have read in a long time, I don't know what is.
And if you aren't afraid of human nudity, try a fun vacation this year at our clothing optional resort, The Terra Cotta Inn located in sunny Palm Springs, CA. We are the sunniest city in the US and the perfect place for couples trying topless or nude sunbathing for the first time.
