Facebook needs an 18+ policy There's too much stupid censorship

The above topless photo is Patty, our manager at Terra Cotta Inn. This photo was our Facebook resort web page photo for Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa here: http://bit.ly/TerraCottaInnFBPage

A few months ago this photo was taken down by Facebook warning us that they do not allow nudity, and if we persisted, they would delete our account. Now you see more nudity in spa ads in The Los Angeles Times, etc., but don't try to argue common sense with Facebook. Also I see more nudity on Spa pages in Facebook. But, since those spas are not nudist, it's OK.

A fan of the popular Australian singer Kylie Minogue posted a photo on Facebook. I don't know on what Faacebook page it went on. The photo was taken down for "nudity." Here's the story:

"An innocent picture of singer Kylie Minogue with a teddy bear was censored by Facebook for being 'nude', all because she was holding her microphone near his nether regions. CLICK HERE FOR THE KYLIE MINOGUE TEDDY BEAR PHOTO

From the picture taken on stage at London's G-A-Y club, Minogue, 42, can be seen sporting a big smile on her face as she hugged the oversized bear, the Daily Telegraph reported.

A fan posted the snap on Facebook but the site's censors quickly took it down, explaining, "we do not allow photos that contain nudity"..."

For the full story, Click here

I have only followed Kylie's career a little as I know she is a breast cancer survivor. that changed her life. She's said "I experienced a world of illness and positive attitudes. These experiences contributed to making me a more mature person." She is also a very fun loving person as you can see in the photo.

As you can see, it's a fun photo with NO NUDITY. Facebook needs to have an 18+ rule. Google does with blogspot. This blog shows no frontal nudity, and our sister blog at http://terracottainn.blogspot.com has frontal nudity and has an 18+ warning. Flickr owned by yahoo has an 18+ section for frontal nudity.

Our Facebook page and my facebook account is set up 18+ as I don't want to have to deal with teenage boys on my Facebook account. So it would be very easy to do.

Facebook, it's time to become an adult instead of a prude. You already have 18+ in effect, let people over 18 post photos like the Kylie Minogue photo and simple nudity photos. It's 2010 not 1910. It's time to act mature towards the human body and adult humor.

Use of the word Nakations is becoming a world wide phenomena

In Australia, on the Australian yahoo site, au.yahoo.com in their Total Travel section, au.yahoo.com just had a story about Australian nude beaches and nakations.

AANR, the American Association for Nude Recreation http://aanr.com has done a fantastic job in promoting the word nakations and in mainstreaming the concept of nude recreation around the world.

Here's the Australian yahoo story:

"Top Aussie Nudist Beaches

Aussie nakation destinations

Those who do bare all on a regular basis proclaim it is a very addictive and liberating experience. If you've ever dreamed of an all-over tan, look no further for all the top clothing optional 'free' beaches all over Australia."

The above photo is of Maslin Beach in Australia.

"Maslin Beach, Adelaide, SA

Australia's first official nude beach

Declared a legal nudist beach in 1975, Maslin Beach is also one of the prettiest beaches in South Australia, surrounded by high cliff walls. The southern end of the beach is the nudist area, and each year this area is host to the Maslin Beach Olympics, with informal competitions including three-legged races and best bum!

Virgin America will have nonstop flights from Toronto to LAX and San Francisco

We have a lot of Canadian guests year round at our resort. Although most come from British Columbia and Alberta, we still have a sizable number of guests from Ontario that stay with us.

All of the guests from Ontario say they wish it was easier to fly here. Now Virgin America will be offering 1 nonstop a day from Toronto into LAX.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is 120 miles from Palm Springs. Non rush hour, it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive into Palm Springs. Almost all of our guests from Europe, Australia, and Asia fly into LAX and drive here. I would also estimate about 10% of our American guests (especially those on the east coast) fly into LAX and drive here.

Here's the info:

"VIRGIN AMERICA LAUNCHES 2010 GROWTH PLANS; SUMMER EXPANSION TO ORLANDO, TORONTO
Airline Grows Fleet; Announces New Service to Orlando and Intent to Serve Toronto This Summer

San Francisco – March 18, 2010 – Virgin America today announces network expansion plans that position the new airline for strong growth in 2010 and beyond. Today,...the airline announces its intent to serve Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with daily flights from both LAX and SFO as early as June 2010. Coming on the heels of the Company’s new Department of Transportation-approved ownership structure, Virgin America is poised for major growth in 2010 – with six additional aircraft entering its fleet this year and three additional aircraft scheduled for the first quarter of 2011. By this time next year, the airline’s fleet will have grown by almost one-third.,,...

Also today, Virgin America will file an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) seeking authority to fly from the United States to Canada. If approved, this would become the airline’s first international destination. As set forth in the application, Virgin America, subject to receipt of all operating authority, plans to begin service as early as June 2010..."

We have always found the easier it is for guests to come to Palm Springs, the more often they come. For instance, once V Australia started flying into LAX, our Australian business has really grown.

I will expect our business from Ontario province will start growing even more now.

Now is the perfect time for a fun, romantic, unique vacation experience.

Australian Nudists Foundation issues response to swinger club pretending to be a nudist resort

One of the frustrating things about owning a nudist resort is swinger clubs and sex clubs are always pretending that they are legitimate nudist resorts. Some even call themselves nudist colonies, nudist resorts, or clothing optional resorts. This greatly misleads first timers.

Then like the club in Australia that announced a month of debauchery and got all sorts of press coverage and had it blow up in their face when a fight broke out, people think that real nudist resorts are just as sleazy as the swinger and sex clubs.

Well ANF, the Australian Nudists Foundation put out a pr letting people know what is proper behavior at nude beaches and real nudist resorts.

Here's the story:

"NUDISTS have issued a "no overt sex" edict for unofficial nude beaches in response to a rising backlash over public sex and swingers parties.

The Australian Nudists Foundation, in a website launched yesterday, has published guidelines of appropriate behaviour for naturists...

It comes amid a stoush between nudists over the adverse publicity surrounding a month-long orgy at a controversial north Queensland nudist colony...

"Naturists enjoy social nudity, but like everyone else they keep their sex life private," he said.

They felt it important to issue guidelines for novices about appropriate behaviour.

"Many people erroneously believe that our lifestyle has sexual overtones, that couldn't be further from the truth, and we constantly have to remind people that we do nothing naked that you don't do fully clothed..."

"Don't worry, you won't encounter overt sex or swinging at any ANF affiliated club."

For the full story click here

IMO nudists need to be proactive in letting people know that sex clubs and swinger places are 100% different that real nudist resorts.

And if you have always wanted to try topless or nude sunbathing, we are the perfect place for first timers. Our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa is considered the most mainstream nudist resort in the US.

Last year tripadvisor.com picked us as one of the 10 best clothing optional resorts in the world

Australian Swinger party backfires

There is an Australian so called nudist resort (I find it hard to believe that they really operate like a nudist resort). They announced a couple of months ago that their sales from nudists were way down, so this month they were going to be a sex club.

That's why I find it hard to believe that they were ever a real nudist resort since they are through a month long sex party.

As I have always said, nudists and swingers do not mix. You need to cater to one of the other. Otherwise you get an explosive mixture.

There was an incident at the club that made international news. Here's the story:

"Swingers sex party argy-bargy

...What organisers must have thought would be a national publicity coup has turned into a coup d’ etat, and now the public face of what sounded like a kinky idea on the page has become a very sleazy reality.

One of the more rotund middle-aged male swingers who was trying to enjoy the views at the week-long north Queensland sex-a-thon-sans-phones (without paying with his clothes) has created a mini-riot after four women confronted him about his refusal to show some skin (what the hell were they thinking?)

If you look at a photo of Mr Harrison you might understand his reluctance but the funny thing about all this is after a few weeks of epic free publicity the organisers have now seen there media-savvy promo idea explode in their faces? What worse promotion for the nudist colony can there be than a photograph of Mr Harrison accompanied with a news story detailing his behaviour...

Hardly the kind of national publicity the nudist colony marketing masterminds were hoping for when they first sold the story to the newspapers, eh?"

For the full story click here

This place did receive tons of national publicity for their sleazy party. It is too bad that real nudist businesses that really care about their customers can't get the same type of pr.

Now most of the stories about this lists the place as a nudist resort. This is the post I have seen that lists the party as to what it really was, a swinger sex party.

Calling a sex club a nudist resort, will give people the wrong idea as to what really goes on at nice nudist resorts.

Now if you want a nice relaxing safe and fun vacation at America's most mainstream nudist resort, give us The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa a call. We are NOT a swinger resort, so you will have lots of fun at our resort.

Australian council rejects nudist beach

Queensland, Australia council rejects nudist beach

In Queensland, Australia in the town of Townsville, their council rejected a written request from residents asking for a nude beach. The reason given, had "more important" things to do than to worry about their citizens.

Here is the story:

"A QUEENSLAND council has rejected an approach from residents to establish the state's first nudist beach.

Townsville mayor Les Tyrell had received a written request from residents to establish a beach in the north Queensland city.

However, he said the request had been rejected because the council had "more important things to worry about''.

"I indicated to them that we had a whole lot of other priorities on the agenda,'' Mr Tyrell said.

Mr Tyrell said he could not imagine a suitable location in the area for a nudist beach to be established and the council was unlikely to look at the issue in the future.

"Unless there was a large community request for it, we wouldn't consider it."...

For the full story click here

It is too bad that the council didn't really spend the time to investigate how positive nude beaches really are. Look at Haulover Beach nude beach. It went from being a filthy eyesore to the most popular beach in Miami.

Another good example is the popularity of nudist resorts. here in Palm Springs, we have the 2nd highest occupancy rate of ALL hotels in palm Springs, only the Indian casino hotel is busier.

Nudism is good business if properly run. It is too bad this council couldn't see that.

Australian nudist group has nice new coverage

Last week, a sleazy Australian nude place put out a press release announcing that March was going to be orgy month at their location. This story was picked up world wide.

I have to admit being jealous that a sleazy sex place says that they are hurting financially, thus they create orgy month and they get world wide press. Whereas, we have had the 2nd highest occupancy rate of ALL hotels in Palm Springs for years, yet that is not an interesting story for the world wide press.

A headline like "Palm Springs nudist resorts business is taking off during the recession" would be nice, but I don't think it will happen.

An Australian publication wrote a nice article about a nudist group and how they are good for their local economy. Here is the story:

"NAKED AMBITION

Nudism generates big tourist dollars for Narrabri and it could help boost Dubbo’s economy if more people are willing to socialise with their gear off.
That’s the belief of Dubbo Inland Nudist Group members who are pushing for increased awareness of the inland nudist trail, from Melbourne to Brisbane.

About 20 people regularly enjoy getting back to nature in a quiet rural setting 25 kilometres south of Dubbo, not far from Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

“We are frequently joined by nudists from other areas and enjoy barbecues, playing sports or lazing around the property’s dam,’’ Dubbo Inland Nudist Group publicity officer Bill Smith said.

“We’re keen to encourage other people to enjoy the freedom of social nudism. It’s not sleazy, offensive or sexually orientated. Getting your gear off is a great leveller - people aren’t judged by the clothes they wear and everyone interacts happily without preconceived ideas.’’

...The Narrabri Shire Council visitors’ centre this week confirmed the well-known nudist retreat was a significant attraction for the town, generating a considerable amount of money.

Bill Smith dreams the Dubbo Inland Nudist Group may one day enjoy similar popularity.

“There’s nothing more enjoyable than swimming and socialising in the nude,’’ he said. “My wife and I discovered nudism five years ago during a tour of Australia. We came across a ‘free beach’ at Darwin and decided to give it a go, just for the heck of it. The experience of swimming nude in the ocean was incredibly liberating and we went on to visit other nudist locations and resorts.

“It’s such a relaxed thing to do. You don’t have to worry about buying or packing a holiday wardrobe and there are few clothes to launder during the vacation. Everyone at the resort shares a common interest and the atmosphere is relaxed with strict rules on admittance and behaviour.’’

...Mr Smith said statisticians estimated 50 per cent of Australians slept in the nude and between 20 and 30 per cent preferred to be bare skinned while relaxing in the privacy of their own home.

“My wife and I enjoy being nude around the house. A pair of shorts and a sarong are kept handy in case someone comes to the door or we want to go into the garden.’’

..“Unfortunately a significant proportion of the community tends to get the wrong idea about nudism - they think we are all weirdos, deviants or swingers.

Nudist resort in Australia decides to go swinger for a month

What do you call a nudist resort that operated as a swinger resort for years and years, went back to being a nudsit resort, then announces it is an orgy resort for 1 month? - Confused and definitely not a nudist resort.

In Australia, there is a so called nudist resort that says due to the economic downturn, it its occupancy rate is down. So they are going to be an anything goes sex, orgy place for a month.

This is my take, 2008 has been our best year. We have been making upgrades and improvements over the years, so that now we are considered the most popular nudist vacation resort in the western US. IF you are coming to Palm Springs for a vacation, to stay a week or two, or coming midweek, you stay with us if you like other nudists around to talk to. If you are coming for just a Saturday night, you book elsewhere.

Because of the upgrades, we have found people are cancelling their Caribbean, Hawaiian, and European vacations and staying with us as we are the best value nudist resort in the US.

In my opinion, there has to be a reason why Australians and New Zealanders were not staying there. This year we have had more Aussies and Kiwis than ever. We have a Kiwi couple here today.

The only thing I can say is badly run businesses go out of business during recessions. The media dwells on the bad. Yesterday, we had a reporter call about this story. I told her how not all nudist resorts are doing poorly. I only hope she writes a nice article about nudism and who some places are very successful.

The only thing I can say is this was a great PR coup for this place as this story is being cover (or uncovered) around the world.

Here it is from Fox news (so you know it has to be an important story):

"Resort Fights Economic Downturn With Month-Long 'Anything Goes' Nude Party

An Australian nude resort wants to bring back swingers and sex parties in a bid to boost sagging tourism figures.

The White Cockatoo resort in Mossman, north Queensland, is promoting an adults-only "anything goes" month of hedonism for March next year.

Owner of the White Cockatoo, Tony Fox, this week said it was time to lift a self-imposed swinger ban.

"Tough economic times call for stiff measures," Fox said. "We've taken the bull by the horns and it's going nuts; we're close to fully booked.

"It will be a hedonism resort, where anything goes for a month. We're not using the words sex or swingers, but it doesn't take rocket science to work out what it means."

Three years ago the controversial resort, once billed as the nation's top group-sex hotspot for swingers, hit the headlines when it closed its doors to partner-swapping...

Cairns Catholic Bishop James Foley warned: "It might only end up cheapening the whole resort operation for a short term gain. Anyone who goes to a hedonist's party goes at their own risk."

Australian Tourism Board sells spiritualism instead of fun

Australia has started a new $40 million ad campaign. Nudism and nudist resorts can learn a lot from this campaign.

Where Australia has always tried to sell its uniqueness and fun, now it is going new age.

A columnist in the Australian Herald Sun is saying this is going to be a big mistake and waste of money and I agree.

When your tourist market is not saturated, you go for numbers. You want as many people as possible to come to your country or stay at your resort. You go mass market or mainstream to be most effective.

Our resort is mainstream. We have always targeted ourselves as mainstream and that is why we have a very high occupancy rate and most of our guests had their first nude sunbathing experience with us and are repeats.

Vacationers, especially these days are looking for value and fun. The world is a hard place to make a living. Most tourists want fun things to do on vacation, not take a vacation for spiritual therapy.

Nudist resorts should be pushing the fun angle of nude recreation and the great value more than any other benefit. In my opinion the more we do this the more successful and popular our industry will become.

Here is the story:

"Tourism goes walkabout

ITS no-spin name spells it out: Tourism Australia is meant to sell Australia to tourists. Lots of them.

But now check Tourism Australia's new Come Walkabout ads: it's decided instead to sell spiritual therapy to urban salvation-seekers.

These two commercials, released this week and destined for screening in 22 countries, are invitations to a church, not a holiday. And to a very exclusive, family-unfriendly church, with not even the hint this time of Lara Bingle's famous bouncing breasts...

Once again, the taxpayer-funded Tourism Australia has fallen to the modern temptation to preach, rather than please. Forgetting its last disaster, it's spending $40 million to advertise not Australia, but its own chic, green-tinged sensibilities...

Forget Sydney, with its bridge or Opera House. The Gold Coast, with its hotels. The Reef, with its resorts. Melbourne, with its MCG.

Ha! That's just where the crude crowds in their novelty T-shirts flock by the planeload. This time we're flogging places where few tourist buses go and no trains reach - outback places where jaded urbanites fancy they can commune with the Nature gods of tribal peoples, far from modern man and his buildings...

He pours sparkling red dust in her hand and whispers: "Sometimes we have to get lost to find ourselves, sometimes we have to go walkabout."

How wonderfully mystic! And just how I plan my own holidays, consulting not a travel brochure but a fistful of dirt...

Where would we shop afterwards? Where would we stay? How much time and money would it take to actually get to these distant places? And what would we do the next day?

Oops. Did I just break wind in church? But you see, there's a reason why just 150 foreign tourists a day visit Katherine Gorge, many of them backpackers with skinny wallets not worth fighting over.

And there's a reason you'll find tens of thousands at places where there's plenty to see, lots to do and enough Australians around to make them feel welcome. Like reef cruises. Wildlife parks. Big cities. Stuff for the kids.

Most tourists are, after all, more pragmatic than religious, and want to fill their too-few days of vacation with fun and value, rather than ommmms and clapping sticks, with a long and dusty trek afterwards to the airport...

Paul Hogan's "shrimp on the barbie" ads, after all, remain the most famous and loved, remembered even today by many who saw them 20 years ago.

How irresistible was his Australia - of beaches, bikinis, barbecues and an Opera House on the sun-lit harbour. It was an Australia populated by charming people who said "g'day" in charming accents..

It worked, of course. Tourism to Australia doubled in the five years Hogan's ads played...

So now we have Luhrmann, selling his Church of New Age Australia. What was Tourism Australia thinking?.."

Breasts show packs them in down under in Australia

Women are usually the most nervous about trying nude sunbathing or topless sunbathing. What we have found out is most women don't mind if other people see their bare breasts, they worry about how they compare to others.

They all have seen the airbrushed, enhanced, photo shopped photos in Playboy and think all women look like that, which is 100% not true.

There is no "normal" looking breasts. They are what they are.

There is a show playing in Australia that is all about breast freedom. I sounds hilarious.

Here is the story:

"The best of the breast

Letting it all hang out … Busting Out!

A titillating comedy has audiences swinging in the aisles, writes Clare Morgan.

I AM standing in a packed auditorium, clutching my breasts and jogging on the spot while a lactation consultant, Nurse Hung Low, barks instructions....

More to the point, who knew that mammary manipulation could be so funny?

At first blush, the comedy cabaret Busting Out! sounds like the chicks' version of Puppetry Of The Penis. But where that was merely a collection of occasionally eye-watering dick tricks, Busting Out! is a celebration of womanhood, subverting the idea of perky perfection and reclaiming the breast from its oversexualised context.

Still, it is shocking when Emma Powell and Bev Killick first go topless after a lusty "Show us your tits!" from the audience. What follows is a frequently hilarious show that includes songs, sketches, tricks (the doughnut, the sniffer dog, the baby, the topless barmaid who serves shooters with her hooters), sketches and brilliantly conceived shadow puppetry (Batman will never be the same again) - all shown on a big screen for maximum impact.

Not bad for a show that had its genesis when Powell dashed naked from the shower to answer the phone and heard her left breast slapping against her body. "It was like ooh, the sound of one tit clapping," she says. "Breast applause" became a popular dressing-room trick until Powell, a talented singer who has appeared in numerous musicals and cabaret shows, including a starring role in the touring production of Mamma Mia!...

"People have always said to me 'Write what you know' and breasts have been in my life and an issue for me since I was young," says Powell, who was teased from an early age because of her ample bosom.

The result was D-Cuppetry: Dance Of The D Cups, which premiered at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2006...

She was persuaded to go on stage and, with Louise Steele, first went topless for a five-minute festival preview. "We had no idea how it would go down, so we did have a strong scotch beforehand. But it was great; they loved it."...

"I've never had a problem with nudity at all," she says. "To be in a show where I can be funny, dance a little, sing a little, act a little and get my boobs out, how good is that?"

Powell, by contrast, says she could never have done the show 10 years ago. "I'm actually quite modest by nature. But being late 30s when I started, I thought, 'this is who I am, there's nothing I can do about it'."

...Perhaps it's that empowerment that persuades some audience members to indulge in a little nudity of their own.

"We have had a 70-year-old woman get up and flash her tits," Killick says. "She'd come up on stage for the bra trick [where two women race to remove their bra from under their clothes] and I was telling her to get them out and after a bit of prompting, she did. The place went berserk."

Not surprisingly, audiences are predominantly female, with hen's nights generating a particularly boisterous mood. Says Powell: "The nights when it's 95 per cent women, it goes through the roof. Men love it too but it's just a different energy with women." The pair seem to have hit on a winning formula...

A local Australian politician is against a legal nude beach

A local government official is trying to stop the creation of a legal nude beach in Australia.

You can always tell a prude when they say they are not being prudish.

Back at the turn of the century, the above picture was the typical bathing suit that women wore. Then some risque fashion designers came up with a bathing suit that showed a woman's bare shin, calves, and lower arms. People were scandalized. You would think that women were walking around naked the way people behaved.

These new bathing suits were banned at many public beaches for being too risque. I bet Ms. Blumel would have been leading the charge to ban this bathing suit in Australia.

Here is the story:

"Nude 'too rude'

“Buy your own place and put a fence around it” – that’s the blunt message from Cr Debbie Blumel and residents of the Mudjimba area to nudists who want to share their local beach.

After tabling a petition signed by almost 450 people opposed to nudists being allowed on Mudjimba Beach, Mrs Blumel said there was absolutely no reason the proposal by the Freebeach Association should be allowed...

“If they want a separate place of their own, they should raise funds as other clubs do, buy some land, build a fence, hire their own security and pay for the own lifeguards,” she said.

“Ratepayers and taxpayers should not be expected to pay for the whims of nudists.”

...Signatures against the idea were collected from people in the Mudjimba, Pacific Paradise, Twin Waters and Marcoola areas and Mrs Blumel said it illustrated “the local community’s strong passion against and genuine safety concerns over the proposed introduction of a nudist beach”.

“Local opposition to the nude beach proposal is not a prudish, not-in-my-backyard, reaction by a group of intolerant killjoys.

“On the contrary, the people I represent are sensible and thoughtful in their approach to most life choices, especially ones that impact on personal freedoms.”

Research into nude beaches had shown recurring examples of them being taken over by perverts who engaged in dubious behaviour, she said.

“These people represent a threat not only to the nudists enjoying their leisure, but also to other innocents in the nearby community, especially our children..."

For the full story click here

Being the "good" politician, Ms Blumel immediately brings up the children card. We can't have a nude beach because we have to protect the children. Prudes always play that card.

The other interesting comment is where it is reported "research" shows that nude beaches are taken over by perverts. If they truly researched the issue, they would have learned that legal nude beaches have much less problems than textile beaches. Look at Haulover Beach in Miami, it is the most popular beach in Miami. before it became a nude beach it was located in a high crime rundown part of town. Now the area is a major tourist draw. Personally, I bet this "research" is a total lie.

It is too bad that prudish government officials can interject their own closed minded agenda on the population. It happens here in the US too.
