6 Tips for successful nudist blogs

I have been blogging now for over 3 years. With both of my blogs, this one and the NSFW version Click here for NSFW version I get a lot of e-mails and comments. About 1000-1500 users per day see my blog.

In talking with new guests of our resort The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa, Palm Springs, CA, most have read our blog which go them interested in taking a vacation at our resort.

Clothing store uses nudity to sell women's clothes

Terra Cotta Inn was once featured on Adrants.com A few years ago, the Bluefly clothing company was using nude models in one of their ads. They leaked the story to me asking me to blog about it, positive or negative. Of course, that was back in the days when our original blog http://terracottainn.blogspot.com was extremely popular. Back before google decided to censor nudist blogs.

Bluefly thought it would be cool to have a nudist resort be the first to comment on the ad. They figured that would create some buzz. And it did. That story was covered by many advertising related websites in the US and was pretty positive towards us. The ad sites reactions were mixed towards Bluefly. Some thought it was terrible to use nudity in an ad, others said grow up, they do it in Europe, why is the US so backwards, etc.

American Apparel, a small boutique young adults clothing store targets the 20 something women's market. In a current internet ad, they show a models bare breast including a nipple in that ad. CLICK HERE FOR THE AD I can't show bare nipples on this blog as they are considered too scary of a sight to google.

I guess American Apparel feels that nudity is a positive selling factor. They want to be considered a hip clothing store. So I guess to them showing a bare breast is hip. A number of years ago ABCnews.com picked us as one of the hip hotels of palm Springs mainly because people nude sunbathe at our hotel.

The purpose of nudist blogs

I like the academic naturist blog. I have it listed on my original blog http://terracottainn.blogspot.com as one of the blogs I recommend. That was a popular blog, but unfortunately Google censored it and I switched to this blog as my new major nudist blog. I am still working on uploading things here.

The academic naturist made a post which I thought was interesting. He mentioned 4 blogs that he recommended. I am honored by being one of the recommended nudist blogs. However, he makes an interesting comment "and the TCI blog if you can stand the ad's."

Blogs can have many purposes. Is is educating people on nudism. The purpose of my blog is to educate people on the fun of nude recreation and the fun of vacationing at clothing optional and nudist resorts. I use this blog to promote my resort.

One thing that many nudist forget is AANR, The Naturist Society, my resort The Terra Cotta Inn,are all businesses. We have to promote ourselves to stay in business and to promote nude recreation. For example when San Onofre nude beach was threatened with being shut down, it was AANR and TNS who led the legal charge to stop it. That costs money. They do a lot of behind the scenes legal work to prevent our nude freedoms. Yet, only 45,000 nudists are members of AANR and maybe 30,000 of TNS. They should number in the millions since tripadvisor.com says 15% of American adults have vacationed at a clothing optional resort.

Our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn is very popular. We have around a 75% repeat guest rate. We have one of the highest occupancy rates of all hotels in Palm Springs. However, I still always have to promote our resort. To have a nice resort with nice amenities in a good part of town like us, you need about a 60% occupancy rate to break even. That is working 80 hours a week and not earning a salary. That's just to break even.

Year round, we have around a 81-82% occupancy rate. Most nudist resorts however struggle to get people in on Friday nights. For instance Caliente Resorts in Florida mentioned one of the reasons they went swinger was nudists wanted to only book on Saturday nights, swingers wanted to book for longer stays. You can't stay open with 1night a week of business.

I don't want a swinger hotel, so for me to be busy 7 nights a week, it means I use this blog to promote my business. And it works. I have so many first timers who tell me they learned about us first because of this blog as they did google keyword searches.

And because of the way google robots index every post, I have to mention our resort in every post.

Promoting your business, especially in a recession is smart. The biggest reason more people don't try nude recreation is awareness, they don't know that we exist. So many people go to the Caribbean to Grand Lido, Couples, and Club Orient for nudist vacations because they don't know there are nice nudist resorts in the US.

This blog teaches people you can have a fun topless or nude vacation here in sunny Palm Springs. Everyone has their own reasons as to why they blog. Now you know mine.

Sunday, this nudist blog cracked 50 users via keyword searches

My original nudist blog http://terracottainn.blogspot.com (NSWF) was receiving from 3,000-4,000 viewers per day due to google keyword searches until it got censored about a month ago.

Google decided all the popular nudist blogs that showed simple nudity needed to be censored with a warning page which meant that they could no longer be found by keyword searches. For instance yesterday, although my original blog had been up over 2 years with over 1000 posts, Zero people found that blog via keyword searches.

I started this blog about a month ago with no pictures showing nudity. Yes, it is weird writing a nudist blog not showing pictures of people enjoying life in the nude, but as readers here know, the US in the last 8 years has lost a lot of our basic freedoms found in the Bill of rights including freedom of press. So I had to change the pictures on this blog to no nudity.

Because this blog does not have nude pics, it passes the google censors. I was so excited, yesterday 50 people for the first time read this blog via google keyword searches.This blog is slowly crawling back up in popularity.

Eva Mendes - Nudist resorts spokeswoman?

Just imagine how the popularity of nudist resorts would explode if Eva Mendes was a spokeswomen for vacationing at nudist resorts.

Eva, feels very comfortable with nudity. She has constantly said she doesn't understand why Americans are so hung up about the sight of a naked human body and why so many people prefer violence over the beauty nudity.

Part of the problem with the popularity of nudism is it is portrayed in the media as an activity that caters to older people. Andyone who has been to Europe or to our resort, the Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa, Palm Springs know this isn't true. We have all ages from their 20's to 70's stay at our hotel just like you would find at a regular hotel like a Marriott, etc.

Eva, is sexy and hip. If nudism had a woman like Eva promoting the fun of topless or nude sunbathing, I predict nudism would explode with popularity.

Eva, produced an ad for Calvin Klein perfumes which was banned on TV because it showed for a fraction of a second one of her bare nipples. And we know how evil nipples are in America. You could say Americans are obsessed with nipples. Look at the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Or for instance, look at John Ashcroft, president Bush's first Attorney General. He covered the bare breasts of the statue of justice in Washington, DC. I guess he did that so that when he talked, reporters would know which boob to pay attention to.

The sight of Eva Mendes's must be very evil. The next thing you know, the Surgeon General is going to issue a warning - the sight of Eva Mendes's niples cause blindness.

It must be true, the way everyone wants to ban her new Calvin Klein video where for a fraction of a second you can see Ms. Mendes's bare nipples.

Although the ad was banned by TV, it had been running on YouTube in its entirety for around a month or so. Well it appears google, the parent company that owns Youtube is also afraid of the sight of bare nipples. About a month ago google, they also own blogger.com, decided to censored all of the popular nudist blogs like this blog. That is why this blog has no pictures showing regular nudist activities. Well I guess the sight of Eva Mendes's bare nipples for even a second is too much for google as they have now banned that Youtube commercial.

First the FCC banned the TV commercial, now Youtube has banned it. What next? Congress passing a law requiring Eva to keep her shirt on for the rest of her life?

Isn't it fun living in a free society like America. You can show as much violence as you like to impressionable little children, but dare to show simple nudity like on NYPD Blue or in this Calvin Klein ad and you have the full force of the government and google coming down against you.

People are fascinated by clothing optional resorts and nudist resorts. In a previous post at my original blog at http://terracottainn.blogspot.com/ (NSDW), I mentioned that today marked the day that I had 2 million user views .

Now I know most people who read nudist blogs are not going to vacation at our nudist resort, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa located in sunny Palm Springs, Claifornia. They are just fascinated to learn more about them.

Well our Convention Visitors Authority is currently running an ad campaign with Alsaska airlines at http://palmspringsoffers.com/ on the west coast. 49 hotels are participating. This is the latest click through rate for the hotels. Yes, our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort was the #1 clicked on resort of all resorts on the website.

What is even more amazing is the listings are done alphabetically, so we are the 8th from the bottom of the 49 hotels. (For instance Casa Cody has a lot of click throughs as it is one of the first ones appearing on the lists).

Also we are not even in all catagories like the Marriott hotel as they are also listed under family fun and golf getaways sections.This just shows that people really want to learn more about nudist resorts. Here is the click throughs:
